The Best PoE Builds - with Tier List for the current League

Best Path of Exile Builds
Tier List for Patch 3.28

Last Update: 30 March, 2026

Path of Exile is an action role-playing game (ARPG) renowned for its deep, complex gameplay and vast customization options. Set in the dark fantasy world of Wraeclast, players navigate a harsh environment filled with dangerous creatures, traps, and powerful bosses. One of the game's standout features is its intricate system of character builds, which allows players to develop unique combinations of skills, abilities, and gear to create a personalized playstyle. The importance of these builds lies in their direct impact on a player's effectiveness and survivability; a well-constructed build can mean the difference between thriving in the game's challenging content or struggling to progress. Mastering the system requires understanding the interconnected mechanics, including the passive skill tree, gem skill synergies, and itemization strategies. This complexity is a major draw for players who enjoy theory-crafting and refining their strategies to tackle some of the game's most difficult encounters.

With the arrival of Patch 3.28 and the Mirage League, the overall meta remains very stable compared to previous expansions. Over the past few leagues, the strongest archetypes have stayed largely unchanged, with only incremental balance tweaks rather than major reworks. This means many of the proven top-tier builds continue to dominate endgame content just as effectively as before. However, Mirage League has introduced a handful of new interactions, mechanics, and skill synergies that allowed several fresh builds to break into the meta, offering players a few exciting alternatives without drastically reshaping the established hierarchy. As a result, both returning players and veterans can rely on familiar, powerful setups while also experimenting with some of the newer contenders.

In the following article, we will present a Tier List with a brief explanation of each build (or skill) and its characteristics. We don't expect to have more than 15 positions on this Tier List, just to keep the best meta setups here. If you are looking for all our other builds you can check the complete list of our PoE Builds here. You will find builds for nearly all the skills and niche or even archival Guides.

BLADE VORTEX

Blade Vortex is currently one of the most overpowered Skills in the game, largely due to the introduction of the Minion Pact Gem, which allows you to massively boost your damage by sacrificing a Spectre with a very high Life pool. Thanks to Blade Vortex’s snapshotting mechanic, you can retain this bonus for an extended duration—as long as you maintain your stacks, the effect can persist throughout the entire map.

It’s worth noting that this interaction is very likely to be adjusted or nerfed in future updates, so if you haven’t tried it yet, this is probably the best time to take advantage of its current power.

KINETIC FUSILLADE

Kinetic Fusillade is one of the newest Wand Attacks introduced in recent updates, and it has very quickly risen to the top of the meta due to its exceptional clear speed and single-target damage. The skill excels at rapidly firing multiple projectiles in quick succession, scaling extremely well via unusual means, like reducing the Skill Effect's Duration to maximize the damage boost of the skill's unique property.

KINETIC BLAST OF CLUSTERING

Kinetic Blast has historically been one of the most popular Wand Attacks, offering excellent scaling and massive AoE coverage. Its transfigured version, Kinetic Blast of Clustering, has been particularly powerful lately, allowing you to significantly increase your damage through Mana scaling. Following the overall Wand rework in Patch 3.27, the two have consistently remained among the strongest Skills in the game.

RIGHTEOUS FIRE

Historically, Righteous Fire has been one of the most popular Skills in the game, known for its smooth, low-maintenance playstyle thanks to consistent passive DPS and exceptional tankiness. While recent changes to Fire Trap and additional sources of Fire Damage have improved its overall damage profile, the biggest reason for its current strength lies elsewhere.

The Chieftain Ascendancy has become the dominant choice, primarily due to its powerful explosion mechanics, which enable massive Ignite chains. These explosions effectively carry the build’s clear speed and a large portion of its damage output, making Righteous Fire fully viable for all types of content—even if the RF damage itself is relatively moderate. Juggernaut and Inquisitor variants are still solid alternatives, but they lack the explosive scaling that makes Chieftain stand out in the current meta.

There is also an option to use the transfigured Gem of Arcane Devotion as a Hierophant, but the added complexity and higher investment required make it a less attractive choice compared to the more straightforward and efficient Chieftain version.

LIGHTNING ARROW

Lightning Arrow Deadeye remains a top-tier Bow build, known for its exceptional clear speed and smooth gameplay. Recent additions introduced new ways to scale its damage, pushing it back into the highest tiers of the meta. It’s once again one of the best choices for fast mapping with strong overall performance.

ELEMENTAL HIT OF THE SPECTRUM

Elemental Hit of the Spectrum is currently one of the top Bow Skills in the game, rising to prominence after major shifts in the ranged meta. It offers very high base Elemental Damage, which fits perfectly with modern Attack builds that stack multiple sources of flat Elemental Damage on their weapons. Thanks to its strong baseline values, it’s also a great option for league starters, performing well even on a relatively low budget. It is most commonly played as a Deadeye, but other archetypes can also make excellent use of it.

At the same time, the regular Elemental Hit has also gained a lot of popularity, particularly in melee setups. With the introduction of new Bloodline classes and Unique Items that directly enhance Prismatic Skills, it has become a powerful and flexible option in a completely different playstyle.

RAISE SPECTRE

Raise Spectre remains the most popular Minion Skill in the game. While it has had its ups and downs over the years, it’s still one of the safest and most reliable choices for anyone looking to play a Minion build. Its current strength comes largely from recent updates that significantly improved the archetype—new Unique Items, powerful Support Gems, and overall Minion scaling changes introduced in recent patches have pushed Spectres back into top-tier territory. On top of that, the pool of viable Spectres has expanded, giving players far more flexibility in choosing their preferred playstyle.

SUMMON HOLY RELIC

Summon Holy Relic is a rather unusual, yet powerful Minion Skill that stands out with its unique playstyle. Instead of dealing damage directly through Minions alone, you need to attack enemies yourself to trigger the Relic’s main ability—a Physical Nova Spell. This creates a hybrid approach that combines active combat with Minion scaling.

Its recent rise in popularity is tied to improved Minion scaling options, new Support Gems, and better itemization that benefits both the player and their Minions at the same time. To maximize DPS, players often use the transfigured version of Conviction, which allows you to summon an additional Relic and makes the Nova target nearby enemies directly, greatly improving consistency and clear speed.

PENANCE BRAND

Penance Brand, along with its transfigured variant Penance Brand of Dissipation, remains one of the strongest Brand Skills in the game. While it was previously considered the single most overpowered ability, recent nerfs have brought it more in line with other top-tier options. Even so, it still stands out as one of the most powerful Physical Spells available.

Its strength comes from built-in Physical to Elemental Damage conversion, which enables excellent scaling and allows for a wide variety of powerful build variations. Due to its more complex mechanics and delayed damage style, it’s not the most convenient choice for fast mapping, but it excels in boss encounters where its damage potential truly shines.

FLICKER STRIKE

Flicker Strike is a very fast melee Attack that deals high base damage and instantly teleports you between nearby enemies, offering a truly unique and highly dynamic playstyle. The Skill requires you to spend a Frenzy Charge to bypass its cooldown, but this drawback can be mitigated with specific Unique Items—most notably Farrul’s Fur or its Replica version, which are often considered core pieces for the build.

It is currently most popular on Slayer, Gladiator, and the newly introduced Reliquarian, all of which offer strong synergy with Frenzy Charge stacking and sustain. Berserker is also a solid option, providing a more aggressive, high-damage approach for players who prefer a riskier playstyle.

Build examples: FLICKER STRIKE SLAYER

LACERATE

Lacerate is currently one of the best starter Skills for melee characters, especially when paired with the Gladiator Ascendancy. Its popularity comes from how well-rounded and accessible it is—offering solid single-target damage, satisfying clear speed thanks to Gladiator explosions, and excellent defenses with high Block Chance, all with minimal gear requirements. The transfigured version, Lacerate of Haemorrhage, remains a top choice for Bleed-focused setups.

At the same time, some interesting alternative variants have emerged recently. With the introduction of Foulborn Unique Items, non-Bleed setups—such as Lacerate of Butchering played on a Champion—have become viable, offering a different take on the skill with strong scaling and a more hit-based approach

Build examples: LACERATE OF HAEMORRHAGE GLADIATOR

GROUND SLAM

Ground Slam is one of the strongest Slam Skills in the game, making it a top-tier melee option and an excellent choice for starting a new character or league. It offers a very straightforward and satisfying playstyle with high early damage and good area coverage, allowing for smooth progression with minimal investment.

As you move into the endgame, Ground Slam scales exceptionally well through Warcry synergies and various melee mechanics, providing a clear upgrade path into high-end content. This combination of strong early performance and reliable late-game scaling makes it one of the most well-rounded melee builds available.

Build examples: GROUND SLAM OF EARTHSHAKING BERSERKER

SPARK

Spark remains one of the best Spells in the game when it comes to clear speed, thanks to its unmatched ability to fill entire screens with projectiles. It offers a wide range of viable variations, including trigger-based setups, Poison builds, and traditional Archmage casters, making it a very flexible choice for different playstyles. Currently, the transfigured version, Spark of Nova, is particularly popular, further enhancing its already impressive clearing potential.
