The Best POE2 Builds - complete Tier List for the current Patch

Best Path of Exile 2 Builds
Tier List for EARLY ACCESS

Last Update: 21.01.2026 Patch 0.4

Path of Exile 2 builds on its predecessor’s legacy as an action role-playing game (ARPG) celebrated for its deep gameplay and unparalleled customization. Set in the grim world of Wraeclast, the game challenges players with a perilous environment full of deadly creatures, traps, and powerful bosses. A hallmark of the Path of Exile experience is its sophisticated character build system, offering players the opportunity to craft unique combinations of skills, passives, and gear to match their personal playstyle.

In Path of Exile 2, build optimization continues to play a vital role in both survivability and progression. The game’s intricate mechanics, including an expansive passive skill tree, diverse gem skill synergies, and nuanced itemization, demand a strategic approach. While the revamped systems are more forgiving, allowing for easier respecs, a well-crafted build remains crucial for mastering the challenging campaign and tackling the endgame content. This complexity appeals to players who enjoy theory-crafting and experimenting with strategies to conquer Path of Exile 2’s toughest encounters.

In this article, we are excited to present our Path of Exile 2 Tier List, featuring a selection of the best meta builds and their defining characteristics. Only the best Builds made it to the list, so even the lowest-ranking ones can conquer the game with ease, although due to their unique gimmicks, not all of them are equally enjoyable to every player out there. However, we want to emphasize that the game is in the everchanging state of constant development. One can expect highly volatile changes and varied experiences depending on multiple factors, such as the current meta shifts, trends, unintended or broken interactions, and personal RNG with Crafting and Looting Gear.

Additionally, we acknowledge that not all related topics and build archetypes are covered in this article yet. As the game evolves and we gather more insights, we’ll be filling in the blanks over the coming weeks. For players seeking a broader range of builds, including niche and archival guides, you can explore the complete list of our Path of Exile 2 builds here. This collection will continue to expand as we dive deeper into the game and update our guides to reflect its ongoing development.

We appreciate your patience as we refine this content and look forward to helping you navigate the evolving world of Path of Exile 2 with confidence and success. Keep an eye out for updates as we work to provide the most comprehensive and reliable build information possible!

Detailed Explanation about Tier List Choices

S TIER
Spark CoC Blood Mage

Spark CoC Blood Mage - this Build can get it all: great AoE coverage with fast Spark projectiles, overwhelming single-target Damage thanks to powerful Comet triggers, and exceptional defense thanks to Leech and large quantities of Energy Shield. Your Life will effectively replace your Mana, so you won't have problems with sustain either. The only problem that remains is the budget. This kind of Build tends to be quite expensive, and performs poorly if you can't acquire all the necessary pieces. Without sufficient DPS on your Spark, you will generate low amounts of Energy to trigger other Spells, and your Leech won't be enough to cover the Costs of your Skills. Once you can break through that obstacle, it quickly becomes the strongest Build in the game currently.

Plasma Blast Blood Mage

Plasma Blast Blood Mage - the Plasma Blast is the hardest-hitting skill in the entire game, although its DPS is not that great due to the initial 2-second loadup. For that reason, it excels at inflicting powerful Ailments that do not care about your Attack Speed anyway. The Bleed is the strongest of them all, especially once you pick the Blood Mage Ascendency for the automatic Aggravation and the possibility to use Elemental Damage for the usually Physical-themed Bleeds. That way, you combine the higher Damage values of Elemental Damage bonuses without dealing with Elemental Resistances, as Bleed still deals only Physical Damage, and you can still inflict powerful Shocks and Chills at the same time. To deal with weaker enemies, you will be using Galvanic Shards for their amazing AoE coverage and ease of use.

Toxic Growth Pathfinder

Toxic Growth Pathfinder - the Toxic Growth is another extraordinary Skill that shines with Ailments, but this time it is a Poison Build. It creates multiple Pustules that can be afflicted by your other Skills, causing them to detonate. A single Pustule is not that strong, but you will fire multiple of them at the same time, leading to overlapping explosions. To ensure all pustules can contribute towards your DPS, you will need to raise the limit of active Poisons, which cuts down their duration considerably, leading to an unusually active playstyle for a DoT Build, since your Poisons will barely last a second or two. On the other hand, the Poisonburst Arrow, thanks to its baseline mechanic, will inflict significantly longer Poisons, allowing them to spread through weaker monsters with ease.

Oil Barrage Druid

Oil Barrage Oracle - the Wyvern Shapeshift is easily the strongest Form out of them all in terms of raw performance. The Oil Barrage simply deals absurd amounts of Damage if you can keep up with the Power Charges necessary to empower and upkeep its Channeling. On the other hand, the very basic Rend can cover a great Area with its huge sweeping Attacks, and boosts your other Skills with massive 50% Extra Lightning Damage, while also costing 0 Mana to use. It starts out a bit more complex, as you have to use Devour and Wing Blast to set up your combo properly, but they can be later replaced by smart use of Unique Items and Lineage Support Gems.

A TIER
Bear Shaman

Bear Form Shaman - the Bear Form is not as strong as its Wyvern cousin, but it is far from being weak! While it's Damage is not as great, by many it is considered more comfortable and enjoyable to play, which is often more important than raw DPS output for achieving long-term goals. The Rampage is one of the exclusive Skills that allows you to deal Damage while moving at full Speed, without relying on the Rhoa Mount. However, to achieve that, you will need a decent Gear to ensure Enemies die just from a single Hit, while also ensuring you can withstand their Attacks. It also requires you to occasionally generate tons of Rage to sustain your Rampage spree with your other Skills, which will also be used to supplement your single-target Damage.

Ice Shot Amazon

Ice Shot Amazon - the Ice Shot is one of the best Skills you can pick to achieve extreme levels of Clear Speed. The aforementioned Rhoa Mount will be implemented here to remove the Speed penalties, allowing you to cruise through Maps and obliterating all Enemies in sight with glorious Ice Shot and Herald of Ice explosions. The Amazon Ascendency allows you to Leech Life with Elemental Damage, which solves your Recovery problems. It's also an ideal pick for the hybrid Energy Shield and Evasion approach, allowing you to tank occasional Hits that bypass your high avoidance. The tradeoff comes in the form of Boss Damage. You will have very potent tools at your disposal, such as Perfectly Timing Snipe against Frozen Enemies, but it's effectivness will be heavily tied to your Gear and budget.

Plant BM

Plant Blood Mage - the newest addition to the game, the Plant archetype is easily the strongest and simplest Spell Casters out there. Your Spells simply deal a lot of Damage if you rotate them properly, without dealing with the busywork of collecting Infusions, spending Charges, or reaching certain levels of Energy generation. You will use Entangle to clear out hordes of Enemies in a huge area in front of you. To deal more Damage against Bosses, mix in Thrashing Vines and Thunderstorm. It plays like a DoT Build, although all your Damage comes from very frequent Hits, thus rotating multiple Spells becomes seamless and effortless very quickly. The main downside here is the inability to improve your Clear Speed with higher investments, as you can't reliably cover the entire screen with your Plants, or explode Enemies with various Ailments.

Explosive Shot Deadeye

Explosive Shot Deadeye - the Explosive Shot offers great Clear Speed thanks to the massive Area of Effect, while the Damage against Bosses stays very competitive due to interactions with the newest addition for the Deadeye, the Mirage Archer. The additional Projectile coming from your Ascendency for this Skill simply doubles your DPS, while also improving your area coverage. Your Defense is a bit lackluster, although Tailwind and exploding the entire screen at once greatly help with that. Obviously, it can be fixed with better Gear and fast reflexes, but the early progression can be a bit rough.

B TIER
Spell Totem Oracle

Spell Totem Oracle - the Spell Totem is another new archetype introduced in the 0.4 Patch. Once you can make it work, it performs very well. You can expect smooth gameplay and a very versatile and customisable experience, since Spell Totems can trigger any Spell you wish to use. It is easy to achieve high DPS with up to 5 Totems constantly casting your Spells, while allowing you to focus entirely on dodging and proper positioning against enemies. The problem here is that each Totem requires 3 Power or Endurance Charges, which can be acquired through very specific Unique Items, or alternatively, specific Skill combo usage in your second Weapon Set. For this reason, we can not rank this build higher despite its great performance once you acquire the necessary Items.

Spark CoC

Essence Drain Lich - the cornerstone Build of most Casters, this Build should be known to most players as it continues to be the easiest way to level up a Caster Character, regardless of your final Setup, but it's still very potent as a proper Endgame Build. The Essence Drain and Contagion offer a very satisfying and effective gameplay style, while the Dark Effigy Totems cover your Damage against Bosses. The Lich Ascendency offers very good defense by fully speccing into Energy Shield, although you can't use the Chaos Innculation Keystone for total protection against Chaos Damage as it would also remove all your Mana Regeneration. This Build is cheap and effective, but does not excel at anything in particular.

Twister Amazon

Twister Amazon - the Twister Build offers a unique twist on the topic of Movement while performing an Attack. Unlike other Builds, you won't be moving in the traditional sense at all. All your mobility comes from the Whirling Slash Skill, which propels you forward with each Attack. Each such Attack also builds up a Whirlwind, which will be used to empower your next Twister, which releases multiple Projectiles that swiftly move around the battlefield, potentially dealing Damage to the same target multiple times. The Twisters are empowered by each stage of the Whirlwind you create, but also by any Elemental Ground surface absorbed on the way. This Build offers great Damage, AoE Clear, and decent survivability, but the gameplay style is very specific, which may not be enjoyable for some players.

C TIER
Hollow Palm Invoker

Hollow Palm Invoker - the Hollow Palm Technique Keystone offers a replacement for your Weapon with your fists. By sacrificing a Weapon, you will gain significantly more Attack Speed and base Critical Strike Chance, but you lose potential bonuses for Gem Levels and a lot of flat Damage. This Build can suit any Quarterstaff Skill; the popular choices include Ice Strike, Flicker Strike, or Whirling Assault. It can achieve very good Clear Speed or Boss Damage depending on your priorities, but the Recovery of Life, Energy Shield, and Mana remains problematic due to constant changes around the Leech mechanics.

Barya of Kelari Disciple of Varashta

Barya of Kelari Disciple of Varashta - another peculiar Build that introduces a completely new style of playing to the game. It is a Minion Build, but your Damage comes from the Command Skills issued to your Minions. Those deal a lot of Damage and apply useful Debuffs onto your Enemies such as Critical Weakness, but are limited by a short Cooldown, leading to very bursty gameplay. The Build focuses a lot on your personal Defense, which is ideal for casual and relaxing gaming sessions. Unfortunately, almost all Minion Builds share similar Gear traits, making it somewhat expensive to complete.

Shield Wall Warbringer

Shield Wall Warbringer - the Shield Skills offer a unique way to scale your Damage with the Armour and Evasion values on your Shield. The Weapon can still provide powerful bonuses, such as additional Gem Levels, large quantities of Extra Damage, or even certain Unique effects, such as guaranteed Critical Strikes with Nebuloch Mace. On top of that, the Shield Wall Skill is very potent by itself, as overlapping explosions will easily obliterate every Enemy you will encounter on your way. Thanks to the extra Fissures from the Ahn's Citadel, it can also cover great areas. However, to deal Damage with this Skill, you have to detonate it first with other methods, even against weaker Enemies. This Build performs very well, but the combo nature and rather slow Attack Speed may not be for everyone.
