Path of Exile 2 - Shields

In Path of Exile 2, Shields are an essential defensive item that significantly enhance a character's survivability. Typically used in conjunction with a one-handed weapon, Shields provide a variety of bonuses, most notably increasing a character's Armor and bolstering their ability to withstand damage. Every Shield also grants the Raise Shield skill, which allows the user to hold their shield in front of them, actively blocking incoming attacks and reducing damage taken. This mechanic makes Shields invaluable for defensive-focused builds, where protecting the character is the primary goal.
Shields can come with a variety of modifiers that improve resistances, Energy Shield, or life regeneration, further enhancing a character’s durability. While they do not typically contribute to offensive capabilities directly, their role in boosting survivability cannot be overstated. In many builds, the choice of Shield can make or break a character's effectiveness in surviving tough encounters.
