Unlike Shields, Foci do not provide any defensive blocking capabilities, but they serve as powerful alternatives for enhancing a spellcaster's effectiveness in combat. Primarily, Foci grant Energy Shield, providing additional protection for the user, but their true value lies in the bonuses they offer to spellcasting and mana management.

Foci typically enhance a character's spell damage, Energy Shield, or even minion-related attributes, making them crucial for builds that focus on spellcasting or summoning. They often provide substantial bonuses to Mana regeneration or increased Mana. Though they do not directly improve survivability in the same way as Shields, Foci allow spellcasters to maximize their offensive potential while maintaining a healthy Energy Shield pool.
