Build Overview
Tesladin, as the double Dream Paladin is often called, is arguably the best PvM build in the entire Diablo 2. This build is quite expensive, as you need a bunch of end-game Runewords to have it running (including Last Wish which is one of the most expensive ones in the game), but it simply allows you to effortlessly farm all the content in the game. You can deal with all immunities thanks to dealing extremely high damage from several sources, and as a Paladin, as always you are going to be playing a very tanky character. A level 30 Holy Shock Aura from two Dream Runewords will quickly deal with all minor enemies around you, which can be further increased by Gear with bonuses to All Skills. Any Lightning Immune enemy or Bosses can be deal with quickly by using Zeal or Smite (the latter has much better single-target damage if you are aiming at Ubers for example). All around, this is one of the most powerful builds in the game, but because of the prices of required items, not recommended as your first character.
Below you will find the recommended Attribute Allocation, Items, Skills, including our commentary and detailed explanation of existing synergies and playstyle.
You can also check our other Diablo 2 Resurrected Builds
Pros | Cons |
Great for fighting Ubers with rock-solid defenses and tons of DPS | Expensive |
Very High Survivability | Not viable as a starter/early ladder build |
Very high DPS from various sources allows you to nearly entirely ignore the existence of Immunities of enemies | |
A lot of possible build variations, as you can choose to deal higher Physical Damage or max the Holy Shock Aura DPS or even use additional Auras for higher team utility and added effects/damage to your melee attacks |
Skills
ATTRIBUTES |
COMBAT SKILLS |
In this Tree, you will find the Melee attacks that you will mainly use against Bosses and Lightning Immune enemies. There is a lot of flexibility in what skills you want to use here, but it's mostly recommended to max Zeal and Sacrifice as its' synergy, and possibly get extra points in Smite for higher Boss/Uber DPS Skills:
OFFENSIVE AURAS |
This skill Tree gives us a solid passive Damage boost and makes the build much more reliable offensively. You are going to use Conviction Aura to boost the damage of your Holy Shock Aura in most situations, and switch to Fanaticism for extra damage against Bosses (assuming your Merc is dead and she no longer provides it) Skills:
DEFENSIVE AURAS |
This Skill Tree contains Holy Shock Aura which is one of the core skills used in this build, but it's not going to be allocated through here, but instead granted by Dream Runeword. On the other hand, you will find two of its synergy skills here, and both should be maxed out to boost your Lightning damage significantly Skills:
Items
You mainly want to boost the level of all your Skills wherever possible, it's the best way to scale your Lightning Damage from Holy Shock Aura. If possible, you can also get some Lightning Facet Jewels, but after increases to Skills, you will mainly focus on boosting your Smite/Zeal DPS through Attack Speed, Crushing Blow, Deadly Strike Chance, and so on. Since it's a melee build, you should also get both types of leech and extra FHR - though most of it will most likely from using two Dream Runeword items in your build |
HELMETS |
Dream (Runeword) - this Helmet is what defines this build. You need to use both Helmet and the Shield with it to get a level 30 Holy Shock Aura with its insane Lightning damage dealt to all enemies around you. Dream also offers all kinds of valuable defensive bonuses which makes it one of the tankiest characters in the game
WEAPONS |
Last Wish (Runeword) - the best possible weapon for this build. When it comes to killing Ubers, you will see a big difference when using Last Wish compared to the other (also powerful) Weapons listed below, so this is the number 1 pick |
Grief (Runeword) - another extremely powerful weapon choice. With the whopping 340-400 flat damage it can add to your attacks, it's a top-tier weapon for pretty much any melee build in the game |
Crescent Moon (Runeword) - a budget alternative that will boost your Holy Shock Aura DPS significantly, but will offer much lower Physical DPS with Zeal/Smite, making Uber farming nearly impossible. It's still a great option if you aren't here for the Boss slaying capabilities of this build |
SHIELDS | |
Dream (Runeword) - as mentioned previously, using two Dream Runeword items is a must in this build in order to get Holy Shock Aura with a base level of 30. This Runeword here offers the exact same bonuses as on your Helmet, offering some insane defensive utility. You should make it in a Paladin Shield with extra Resistances |
WEAPON SWAP | |
Call to Arms (Runeword) - This powerful Runeword will allow you to buff yourself with Barbarian's Warcries. Just cast them and return to your standard weapons for the duration |
Defense: Depends on base Weapon
Spirit (Runeword) - one of the best Shields thanks to its high Skill bonus and high Faster Cast Rate. It will not only boost the effectiveness of Warcries but if you are using Enigma/Teleport, make sure to switch to your alternative weapon set to boost your mobility when Teleporting |
Defense: varies Required level: 25 Required Strength: 156 (if using Monarch) Runes: Tal + Thul + Ort + Amn
AMULETS |
Rare Crafted Amulet with + Paladin Skills and additional bonuses is always a good option. Because of how many different skills are used from all three Skills Trees, using +3 Magic ones is not recommended |
Mara's Kaleidoscope - one of the best Amulets in the game. It adds all the important stats and +2 to All Skills |
Highlord's Wrath - a great Amulet that will boost your melee damage significantly. You should be looking to replace it with a +2 to Skills Amulet at some point, but this one will work just fine for the most part thanks to the high IAS bonus and a high chance of Deadly Strike |
ARMORS |
Chains of Honor (Runeword) - the best Body Armor for this build which grants a bonus to all Skills and tons of defensive utility. It also grants a massive DPS bonus against Demons, and most Bosses in Diablo 2 Resurrected are Demons. However, if you are grinding the whole day long, you may be missing Enigma's Teleport and its' mobility bonuses |
Enigma (Runeword) - one of the best Armors in the game which grants the Teleport Spell and boosts your mobility significantly. It also adds +2 to All Skills and a very high increase to your Run/Walk speed. If you are using Enigma, make sure to get some gear with FCR to boost the speed of your Teleport (CTA + Spirit offhand is always a good option) |
RINGS |
Raven Frost - freeze immunity is a very important affix that's provided by just a few items in the game. The extra Attributes, Attack Rating, and Cold Damage also come in handy and boost your melee DPS |
Rare Ring - if you don't have it elsewhere make sure to get a double Leech Ring with extra Life/Resistances/Attributes or possibly FCR for Teleporting faster |
Bul-Kathos Wedding Band - the +1 to All Skills make it one of the best options. The extra Life and Life Steal is also great to have. Can be replaced with Stone of Jordan for its Skill bonus, but the other stats it offers are less relevant for a Tesladin |
GLOVES |
[BIS] Laying of Hands (Bramble Mitts) - when it comes to farming Bosses, you will find no better Gloves than this. The 20% IAS and 350% (!!) bonus Damage to Demons is simply irreplaceable. And this pair shouldn't be that expensive either |
Dracul's Grasp (Vampirebone Gloves) - These amazing gloves grant a 25% Chance of Open Wounds and a 5% Chance to Cast Level 10 Life Tap, which makes them ideal for farming Ubers
Steelrend (Ogre Gauntlets) - this pair of gloves offer very high melee damage bonuses making it a good option for this build |
BOOTS |
Gore Rider (War Boots) - A great offensively-oriented pair of boots. They offer a good chance for a Crushing Blow and Open Wounds, both of which can be triggered with Smite/Zeal |
War Traveler (Battle Boots) - can be used mainly for the extra Magic Find bonus. This pair also offers reasonable DPS and extra defensive utility, making them one of the most popular pairs in the Diablo 2 Resurrected |
Waterwalk (Sharkskin Boots) - presumably the best in the slot with simply massive defensive utility and bonuses. If you are mainly oriented on the end-game content, this is most likely the pair you should be wearing at all times |
BELTS |
Thundergod's Vigor (War Belt) - An interesting defensive choice that gives you +20 Lightning Absorb, some Strength, and Vitality. If you feel like you're too squishy, consider using this one instead of the Arachnid Mesh
[BIS] Arachnid Mesh (Spiderweb Sash) - this amazing Belt grants bonus to All Skills which is very unique in this slot. It also slows down enemies, boosting your defenses, and grants 20% FCR which can greatly increase your mobility with Teleport |
CHARMS |
MERCENARY |
We recommend hiring Act 1 Mercenary with the Cold Arrow for some extra slow. The Merc will deal nearly 0 damage when compared to your character, so it's not why she's around. You want to equip her with Faith Runeword and boost her defenses so that you can benefit from her's Fanaticism Aura nearly at all times
