Multiple-Shot & Guided Arrow Amazon Build for Diablo 2 Resurrected

A classic Bowazon build offers insane AoE from Multiple-Shot attack skill

Multiple-Shot/Guided Arrow
Bowazon Amazon Build

Build Overview

Multiple-Shot / Guided Arrow Amazon is one of the most iconic builds in Diablo 2. Over the years, it has received numerous nerfs and no longer offers so high Boss DPS, but because of amazing AoE (possibly the best AoE out of all physical DPS builds in the same)  and unique playstyle so it's still one of the most enjoyable builds out there. It's the most classic Bowazon build that is most commonly played as a glass cannon - if you build it in a different way, you will end up with zero DPS character. At the same time, you are looking at one of the most expensive builds in the game so be prepared to spend of a lot of high runes to get this thing running smoothly.

This build truly offers insane AoE - you don't even need to fully upgrade your Multiple-shot for extra Arrows, it will be simply overdoing things. With just slightly over 10 points allocated there, you will fire enough arrows to cover half of your screen with arrows in the direction you are firing at, killing entire packs of minor enemies, making it an extremely enjoyable build. You should be able to make up for your squishiness by being able to take down enemies from a distance, which well, is what most Bow builds are all about.

 Pros  Cons
Massive AoE - possibly the best out of all Physical DPS builds in the game  Mediocre single-target DPS
Great for farming Cow level, Chaos Sanctuary, and several other juicy spots  True glass cannon with very low Life pool if you decide to go for max DPS
 Great mobility  Very expensive
Smooth and enjoyable playstyle that's hard to find in other classes
 Tons of different gear options

Skills

ATTRIBUTES
  1. Strength - barely enough to equip all your gear. In most cases, it will be just enough to equip War Traveler boots
  2. Dexterity - for a true glass cannon version, you want to spend all your remaining points in Dexterity to boost your damage. You can potentially add some Vitality, but killing Bosses may be a bit too slow then
  3. Vitality - either a few points or none at all should be allocated in Vitality, depending on how much maximum life you feel comfortable playing with
  4. Energy - do not add any points into Energy, it's a total waste

BOW AND CROSSBOW SKILLS

This Tree provides all your active skills and damage-dealing abilities. You are only going for maxed out Guided Arrow to maximize its' damage, and just enough points into Multiple-Shot to offer reasonable AoE (that will be up to your personal preference and gear, usually 10-15 points is more than enough here)

Skills:

  1. Magic Arrow [1/20] - a prerequisite for Multiple-Shot. It's also the first Bow skill that will be used on lower levels until you can allocate Multiple-Shot
  2. Multi-Shot [X/20] - the main source of AoE damage in this build, and in most cases your primary Attack when farming and leveling. Extra levels increase the number of arrows it fires, and beyond a certain point, you will have no use for extra projectiles, so increasing the level of Multiple-Shot above 15 is a waste (you will be better of increasing your Passives, like Pierce for example)
  3. Cold Arrow [1/20] - a necessary prerequisite for Guided Arrow
  4. Guided Arrow [20/20] - fires an enchanted arrow that will track your target or seek one of its own. This ability is used mainly against Bosses as your single-target DPS skill. It can track enemies that are not on your screen, which makes it a safe pick for this glass cannon build. Extra levels increase the base damage, so it's mandatory to allocate 20 points here

PASSIVE AND MAGIC SKILLS

This skill tree provides us with some much-needed utility and solid defenses. Skills from the Passive and Magic tree were chosen in a way that supports our damage-dealing abilities; either by simply buffing them or by enabling us to use them more easily (by providing dodge, evasion, and meat shields).

Skills:

  1. Inner Sight [1/20] - reduces enemies' defense rating, which is a decent way to boost your damage. It's not advised to spend more than 1 point here though
  2. Critical Strike [20/20] - gives your attacks a chance to deal double damage. It's one of the best ways to increase your DPS output so it's mandatory to max this one out
  3. Penetrate [20/20] - boosts your Attack Rating, again you want to max it out eventually
  4. Pierce [X/20] - increases the chance of your projectiles piercing through enemies, greatly increasing your clear speed and area coverage. Make sure to reach a 69% Chance to Pierce with all the bonuses to your Skills levels. You will have to allocate somewhere between 15-18 points here
  5. Dodge [1/20] - one of the best defensive mechanics for this low-life/glass cannon build is dodge/evasion. If you are efficiently keeping your distance  and avoiding enemies in melee range, you should be fine with barely 1 point here
  6. Avoid [20/20] - ranged attacks are the ones that will most likely reach your character even if you try to fight from a distance. So unlike Dodge, you want to max this skill to boost your survivability
  7. Evade [1/20] - another evasion/dodge passive that can be triggered for both melee and ranged attacks but only while you are moving. It's useful, but not enough to spend more than a single point here
JAVELIN AND SPEAR SKILLS

You can skip this Skill Tree entirely, none of the skills here have any use for you

Skills:

  1. none

Items

Unlike caster builds, Amazon skills that you are using in this build offer 0 synergies, so increasing the level of all your Skills or Bow/Crossbow Skills has a lesser effect. The best way to scale your damage is by boosting your Attack Speed, Attack Rating, and base weapon damage (via charms, high DPS weapon, and so on).  You want to reach 92% IAS breakpoint which is the fastest you can go with Multiple-Shot. Obviously, it would be best to cap all your Resistances, but this would come at the cost of reduced damage. You may be better off reaching 75 on Fire Resistance as you are most likely going to farm areas like Chaos Sanctuary with this build, where enemies deal mainly that type of damage. Lightning Res comes second as Lightning is among the deadliest of Elements, but then again it's all up to your playstyle and areas you are grinding currently

HELMETS

M'avina's True Sight (Diadem) - M'avina's helmet offers a massive Attack Speed bonus making it a reasonable pick if you are using a slow base IAS weapon

M'avina's True Sight

  • Defense: 200-210

  • Required Level: 64

  • Durability: 20

    • +150 Defense

Set bonuses:

  • +1 to All Skills (2 items)
  • 50% Bonus To Attack Rating (3 Items)
  • All Resistances +25 (4 Items)

Andariel's Visage (Demonhead) - A great helmet that offers a very high Attack Speed bonus and +2 Skills increase. If Also gives quite a high Life Leech which can be extremely helpful. You may need to get some chars with Fire Resistances though (as you should aim at capping it at 75)

Andariel's Visage

  • Defense: 310-387
  • Required Level: 83
  • Required Strength: 102
  • Durability: 20
    • +100-150% Enhanced Defense
    • +2 To All Skills
    • 20% Increased Attack Speed

    • Fire Resist -30%
    • Poison Resist +70%
    • 15% Chance To Cast Level 15 Poison Nova When Struck
    • Level 3 Venom (20 charges)

Stealskull (Casque) - this Helmet offers 10% Increased Attack Speed, dual leech and up to 50% Magic Find Stats. If you are not pushing yourself into some serious end-game stuff, it may be the best option if you just want to casually farm some Uniques

  • Required Level: 35
  • Required Strength: 59
  • Durability: 24
    • +200-240% Enhanced Defense

    • 10% Faster Hit Recovery
    • 5% Life Stolen Per Hit
    • 5% Mana Stolen Per Hit
    • 30-50% Better Chance of Getting Magic Items

WEAPONS

Buriza-Do Kyanon (Ballista) - This incredibly powerful Crossbow offers an extremely high Damage increase, great attack speed, 100% chance to pierce, and 35 Dexterity, but it does not increase our skills. Still, this is one of the best offensive weapon choice and you simply can't go wrong with it. It's also great for leveling, as the weapon's damage will increase together with your character's level

Buriza-Do Kyanon

  • Two-Hand Damage: (135-180) to (224-298)-(469-543) ((179.5-302)-(239-361.5) Avg)(Base Damage: 45-74)
  • Required Level: 41
  • Required Strength: 110
  • Required Dexterity: 80
  • Base Weapon Speed: [10]
    • +200-300% Enhanced Damage (varies)
    • + (2.5 Per Character Level) 2-247 To Maximum Damage (Based On Character Level)

    • +75-150 Defense (varies)
    • +35 to Dexterity
    • 80% Increased Attack Speed

Faith (Runeword) - the best (and most likely the most expensive) Weapon for this build. It offers a massive ED bonus and has a built-in Fanaticism Aura for increased Attack Speed/Damage/Attack Rating. The % increased ED and AR, allow for insane DPS scaling if you have a lot of it on your gear/charms/jewels, etc. so if you have invested a lot in those, this is simply the single best option. It also adds extra Fire Damage to help you deal with Physical Immune enemies. You need Ohm + Jah + Lem + Eld Runes socketed in preferably a Grand Matron Bow for the highest possible DPS, but the low attack speed requires more IAS bonuses on other gear pieces

Faith

  • Level 12-15 Fanaticism Aura When Equipped
  • +1-2 To All Skills
  • +330% Enhanced Damage
  • Ignore Target's Defense
  • 300% Bonus To Attack Rating
  • +75% Damage To Undead
  • +50 To Attack Rating Against Undead
  • +120 Fire Damage
  • All Resistances +15
  • 10% Reanimate As: Returned
  • 75% Extra Gold From Monsters

Windforce (Hydra Bow) - a legendary Diablo 2 Resurrected Bow with very high ED bonus, tons of added Maximum Damage, and high bonus Attack Speed. It's one of the best weapons for this build, and the extra Mana Steal and Knockback make it one of the most convenient weapons to use as a Bowazon

Windforce

  • Two-Hand Damage: 35 to (241-547)
  • Required Level: 73
  • Required Strength: 134
  • Required Dexterity: 167
  • Bow Class - Slow Attack Speed
    • +250% Enhanced Damage
    • +3-309 To Maximum Damage (+3.125 Per Character Level)

    • 6-8% Mana Stolen Per Hit
    • Heal Stamina Plus 30%
    • +10 To Strength
    • +5 To Dexterity
    • Knockback
WEAPON SWAP

Lidless Wall (Grim Shield) - A very powerful Shield that grants bonuses to all skills and FCR. If you are using CTA on weapon swap to boost your stats with Warcries, it's good to equip this shield to best the effect. Spirit is also possible, but you would need over 150 Strength to equip it, which would hurt your DPS by lowering your Dexterity

Lidless Wall

  • Defense: 271 - 347
  • Required Level: 41
  • Required Strength: 58
  • Durability: 70
    • +80-130% Enhanced Defense (varies)
    • +1 to All Skills
    • Increase Maximum Mana 10%
    • 20% Faster Cast Rate
    • +3-5 to Mana After Each Kill (varies)
    • +10 to Energy
    • +1 to Light Radius

Call to Arms (Rune Word) - This powerful Runeword will allow you to pre-buff yourself up with Warcries (buffs persist through weapon swap).

    • All Resistances +20-30 (varies)

CHARMS

  1. Annihilus - this fabled Charm boosts your Skills, Stats, and Resistances. It's the best Unique Small Charm, and it's limited to just 1 in your equipment
  2. Gheed's Fortune - boosts your Magic Find stats by up to 40%. It also increases your Gold find significantly, making it easier to repair your gear or occasionally gamble for some valuable gear
  3. Hellfire Torch - the best Large Charm in the game which boosts all the critical stats of your character. Just like Annihilus, it's limited to 1 in your inventory, and it's a must-have for pretty much all builds in the game
  4. Grand Charms - grand charms should all add Min/Max Damage, Attack Rating, and possibly extra Life
  5. Small Charms -  similar to grand charms, they should add Min/Max Damage and AR stats. You can alternatively get Life and extra Resistances here

MERCENARY

There are several viable options here depending on your current equipment. If you are using Faith Runeword as a weapon, it's recommended to either pick Act 2 Mercenary with Might Aura to boost your Physical DPS and offer decent DPS on its, or you can go for Act 1 Mercenary with Ice Arrow Holy Freeze Aura from Ice Runeword weapon which offers extra defensive utility. On the other hand, if you are not using Faith, it's best to equip Act 1 Merc (preferably with Ice Arrow once again) with it so that you can gain the benefits of Fantacisism Aura

Act 2 Might Aura Mercenary

  1. Infinity Runeword in Ethereal Spear - this setup offers the best DPS bonus if you are using Faith Runeword on your character. Infinity itself has insane Physical damage, and the conviction Aura boosts the Elemental damage you and your allies deal to enemies in the radius
  2. Fortitude Runeword in Armor - the best body armor for Act 2 Mercenary. It makes him nearly immortal while providing a solid Enhanced Damage bonus
  3. Andariel's Visage - extra Attack Speed and Life steal makes it the best A2 Merc Helmet

Act 1 Ice Arrow Mercenary

  1. Faith Rune Word in high base physical damage bow - which offers Fanaticism Aura for extra DPS/Damage/AR and has a high base damage
  2. Shaftstop Armor - the best body armor for Act 1 Mercenary that offers massive defense rating and reduces incoming damage by a whopping 30%
  3. Vampire Gaze - grants Life Steal and another 15-20% damage reduction bonus, which will allow your Rogue Mercenary to stay alive during fights

All items on your Mercenaries should be Ethereal (with the exception of Bows as they simply can't roll that) as equipment on them does not degrade while offering more substantial bonuses
