Build Overview
Multiple-Shot / Guided Arrow Amazon is one of the most iconic builds in Diablo 2. Over the years, it has received numerous nerfs and no longer offers so high Boss DPS, but because of amazing AoE (possibly the best AoE out of all physical DPS builds in the same) and unique playstyle so it's still one of the most enjoyable builds out there. It's the most classic Bowazon build that is most commonly played as a glass cannon - if you build it in a different way, you will end up with zero DPS character. At the same time, you are looking at one of the most expensive builds in the game so be prepared to spend of a lot of high runes to get this thing running smoothly.
This build truly offers insane AoE - you don't even need to fully upgrade your Multiple-shot for extra Arrows, it will be simply overdoing things. With just slightly over 10 points allocated there, you will fire enough arrows to cover half of your screen with arrows in the direction you are firing at, killing entire packs of minor enemies, making it an extremely enjoyable build. You should be able to make up for your squishiness by being able to take down enemies from a distance, which well, is what most Bow builds are all about.

Pros | Cons |
Massive AoE - possibly the best out of all Physical DPS builds in the game | Mediocre single-target DPS |
Great for farming Cow level, Chaos Sanctuary, and several other juicy spots | True glass cannon with very low Life pool if you decide to go for max DPS |
Great mobility | Very expensive |
Smooth and enjoyable playstyle that's hard to find in other classes | |
Tons of different gear options |
Skills
ATTRIBUTES |
BOW AND CROSSBOW SKILLS |
This Tree provides all your active skills and damage-dealing abilities. You are only going for maxed out Guided Arrow to maximize its' damage, and just enough points into Multiple-Shot to offer reasonable AoE (that will be up to your personal preference and gear, usually 10-15 points is more than enough here) Skills:
PASSIVE AND MAGIC SKILLS |
This skill tree provides us with some much-needed utility and solid defenses. Skills from the Passive and Magic tree were chosen in a way that supports our damage-dealing abilities; either by simply buffing them or by enabling us to use them more easily (by providing dodge, evasion, and meat shields). Skills:
JAVELIN AND SPEAR SKILLS |
You can skip this Skill Tree entirely, none of the skills here have any use for you Skills:

Items
Unlike caster builds, Amazon skills that you are using in this build offer 0 synergies, so increasing the level of all your Skills or Bow/Crossbow Skills has a lesser effect. The best way to scale your damage is by boosting your Attack Speed, Attack Rating, and base weapon damage (via charms, high DPS weapon, and so on). You want to reach 92% IAS breakpoint which is the fastest you can go with Multiple-Shot. Obviously, it would be best to cap all your Resistances, but this would come at the cost of reduced damage. You may be better off reaching 75 on Fire Resistance as you are most likely going to farm areas like Chaos Sanctuary with this build, where enemies deal mainly that type of damage. Lightning Res comes second as Lightning is among the deadliest of Elements, but then again it's all up to your playstyle and areas you are grinding currently |
HELMETS |
M'avina's True Sight (Diadem) - M'avina's helmet offers a massive Attack Speed bonus making it a reasonable pick if you are using a slow base IAS weapon |
Set bonuses:
Andariel's Visage (Demonhead) - A great helmet that offers a very high Attack Speed bonus and +2 Skills increase. If Also gives quite a high Life Leech which can be extremely helpful. You may need to get some chars with Fire Resistances though (as you should aim at capping it at 75) |
Stealskull (Casque) - this Helmet offers 10% Increased Attack Speed, dual leech and up to 50% Magic Find Stats. If you are not pushing yourself into some serious end-game stuff, it may be the best option if you just want to casually farm some Uniques |
WEAPONS |
Buriza-Do Kyanon (Ballista) - This incredibly powerful Crossbow offers an extremely high Damage increase, great attack speed, 100% chance to pierce, and 35 Dexterity, but it does not increase our skills. Still, this is one of the best offensive weapon choice and you simply can't go wrong with it. It's also great for leveling, as the weapon's damage will increase together with your character's level |
Faith (Runeword) - the best (and most likely the most expensive) Weapon for this build. It offers a massive ED bonus and has a built-in Fanaticism Aura for increased Attack Speed/Damage/Attack Rating. The % increased ED and AR, allow for insane DPS scaling if you have a lot of it on your gear/charms/jewels, etc. so if you have invested a lot in those, this is simply the single best option. It also adds extra Fire Damage to help you deal with Physical Immune enemies. You need Ohm + Jah + Lem + Eld Runes socketed in preferably a Grand Matron Bow for the highest possible DPS, but the low attack speed requires more IAS bonuses on other gear pieces |
Windforce (Hydra Bow) - a legendary Diablo 2 Resurrected Bow with very high ED bonus, tons of added Maximum Damage, and high bonus Attack Speed. It's one of the best weapons for this build, and the extra Mana Steal and Knockback make it one of the most convenient weapons to use as a Bowazon |
WEAPON SWAP | |
Lidless Wall (Grim Shield) - A very powerful Shield that grants bonuses to all skills and FCR. If you are using CTA on weapon swap to boost your stats with Warcries, it's good to equip this shield to best the effect. Spirit is also possible, but you would need over 150 Strength to equip it, which would hurt your DPS by lowering your Dexterity |
Call to Arms (Rune Word) - This powerful Runeword will allow you to pre-buff yourself up with Warcries (buffs persist through weapon swap).
AMULETS |
Atma's Scarab - one of the best choices for this build. Atma's Scarab has a chance to cast level 18 Amplify Damage on Striking and you will hit very often with Multiple-Shot/Guided Arrows thanks to high Attack Speed |
The Cat's Eye - this Amulet offers the highest raw DPS bonuses to this Bowazon build with the increased Attack Speed and Dexterity. It also boosts your mobility and adds extra defense rating |
Highlord's Wrath - another exceptionally powerful Amulet with a bonus Attack Speed and high Lighting Resistances. On higher-level characters, the chance to Deadly Strike makes this an exceptionally powerful choice in terms of DPS |
Mara's Kaleidoscope - great all-around Amulet, but given its price, it's not the best option for this build. It will boost your resistances, attributes, and all Skill levels which is always good to have |
ARMORS |
[BiS] Fortitude (Runeword) - simply the best possible armor for this build. It not only offers very high defensive utility and reduces all your damage taken, but significantly boosts your damage with its' 200% ED stat |
Chains of Honor (Runeword) - a much more defensive option, but also offers a solid DPS boost against Demons and Undead (perfect if you are farming Chaos Sanctuary for example) |
RINGS |
Bul-Kathos Wedding Band - one of the best Rings for this build. It grants a bonus to all skills, Life Steal, and maximum Life - all exceptionally valuable affixes for this Bowazon build |
Raven Frost - using one of those is pretty much mandatory. This Ring offers high Dexterity, AR, and Cold Damage, boosting your DPS significantly, while providing you with Freeze immunity |
Rare Blood Crafted Rings - if you are lucky with rolls on your Crafts, this can also be a very decent pick. Depending on your other gear choices, you could try getting a Min. damage/ dual leech/ Life Rings with some extra Attributes |
GLOVES |
Laying of Hands (Bramble Mitts) - the top recommendation for this build. This pair grants a lot of bonus Attack Speed and simply a massive DPS bonus against Demons |
Hit Power Crafted Gloves - with increases to Bow and Crossbow Skills and +20% to Attack Speed and possibly leech/knockback or other valuable stats. A similar Magic alternative with just Bow Skills and IAS can be farmed by resetting Anya's inventory in Act 5 which means that they are extremely cheap, but also tedious to obtain |
BOOTS |
War Traveler's (Battle Boots) - the best pair for this build. Not only it grants the highest MF stat, but the extra added Physical DPS scales exceptionally well in this build |
Sandstorm Trek (Scarabshell Boots) - a great, more defensive-oriented pair with tons of valuable stats for this build |
Gore Rider (War Boots) - this pair offers simply insane DPS with its chance of opening wounds, crushing blows, and deadly strike. They offer near to no defensive utility though, with just the extra mobility from 30% increased Run/Walk speed |
BELTS |
Nosferatu's Coil (Vampirefang Belt) - A definite top choice for this build. It gives some nice offensive bonuses, including 10% increased attack speed and Life Steal on Hit |
Razortail (Sharkskin Belt) - one of the best Belts for any Bowazon character (or other classes that can potentially benefit from Piercing attacks). This belt also adds some extra damage and Dexterity for a decent DPS boost |
CHARMS |
MERCENARY |
There are several viable options here depending on your current equipment. If you are using Faith Runeword as a weapon, it's recommended to either pick Act 2 Mercenary with Might Aura to boost your Physical DPS and offer decent DPS on its, or you can go for Act 1 Mercenary with Ice Arrow Holy Freeze Aura from Ice Runeword weapon which offers extra defensive utility. On the other hand, if you are not using Faith, it's best to equip Act 1 Merc (preferably with Ice Arrow once again) with it so that you can gain the benefits of Fantacisism Aura Act 2 Might Aura Mercenary
Act 1 Ice Arrow Mercenary
All items on your Mercenaries should be Ethereal (with the exception of Bows as they simply can't roll that) as equipment on them does not degrade while offering more substantial bonuses |
