Build Overview
Meteor is one of the most powerful Sorceress' Spells and truly a top leveling ability in her entire arsenal. When fully upgraded, with all of its' synergy skills allocated, and supported by Fire Ball and decent Cast Rate breakpoint, it is one of the deadliest Fire Spells in the game. The build itself allows you to farm most of the popular farming spots on Hell difficulty, sadly, you will be limited to areas with just a few Fire immune monsters, because you will be dealing only that type of damage with your core skills.
Meteor deals its' damage in two phases, first, the "on hit" effect, has a delay, but deals simply devastation damage to enemies in its' radius. The second phase is the DoT effect your Meteor leaves on the ground, which has increased damage for each point allocated in Inferno (that's why it's also advised to max it out). You are also going to use Fire Ball, which offers a much faster way to get extra AoE damage without having to wait for the Meteor to hit the ground. At higher levels, Fire Ball becomes your primary damage-dealing ability because of the Meteor's high delay

Pros | Cons |
Great Mobility (well, it's a Sorc after all) | Deals only one type of damage |
Very High AoE Damage | Squishy at a certain point |
One of the smoothest Leveling skills in the game | May feel slow and clunky without proper gear because of the Meteor's delay |
Great for Magic Find and farming some popular Hell-difficulty spots |
Skills
ATTRIBUTES |
COLD SPELLS |
You will find Frozen Armor here, which is the core defensive Spell for Sorceress. This is the only skill you will allocate here, and you are going to spend just 1 point on it Skills:
LIGHTNING SPELLS |
Sorceress's Lightning Spells offers some decent utility for this build. You are obviously going to take Teleport for the unparalleled mobility it offers. Allocating Static Field is optional, as you may find it to be too troublesome to cast against mid-tier content that you are most likely going to deal with when playing Meteor Sorc, but it's still worth considering Skills:
FIRE SPELLS |
The primary Skill Tree for this build. It contains all the core Fire Spells that you are going to deal damage with, but also the Warmth buff that helps you regenerate Mana without having to invest much in Mana Regen equipment or Energy Attribute Skills:

Items
Just like with any other Caster build, you are primarily going to increase the level of all your Abilities (All or Fire Spells in this case) and then Faster Cast Rate. FCR breakpoints for Fire Sorc are at 63, 105, and 200% which basically leaves no other choice but to aim for the middle one. Please note that FCR doesn't reduce the Meteor's delay, it just reduces the time of your character's Cast animation which increases the cast frequency of your Spells. Other than that, you aim at keeping all your Resistances at 75, and possibly adding some extra Faster Hit Recovery, so that you don't get stunned to death by random enemies. Since this build is not primarily oriented on dealing with end-game Bosses after you reach a certain level of gear, there is not much to improve, so it's best to simply increase your Magic Find stat (mainly via items like Magic Rings, Chance Guards, War Travelers, etc.). Min-maxing the build and pushing it beyond the level we put down below is pointless - you would be forcing your character to deal with content it simply wasn't destined to deal with. |
HELMETS |
[Early] Lore (Runeword) - a great leveling Runeword which adds +1 to all Skills and extra defensive/utility bonuses. It will also work great for early Hell farming if needed
[Late] Harlequin Crest (Shako) - this is the top recommendation for the Helmet slot. It grants all the important stats and +2 to All Skills while offering tons of Magic Find stat - one that you should increase when playing a Meteor Sorceress build |
WEAPONS |
Spirit Weapon (Runeword) - a great Starter weapon that will work fine for leveling and early Hell content. Later on you should replace it with HOTO (overall performance) or Occulus (extra MF) |
Heart of the Oak (Runeword) - An extremely solid end-game choice that provides +3 to all Skills and a 30% Faster Cast Rate. It's basically the best weapon for this build, but judging by its' nature and being unable to actually deal with end-game Bosses, you may be better off with Occulus for extra Magic Find |
The Oculus (Swirling Crystal) - the top recommendation for the weapon slot. It offers slightly less DPS than HOTO, but the extra Magic Find makes it the best pick for this build |
SHIELDS | |
Splendor (Rune Word) - A great and inexpensive mid-to-late game option. It grants +1 to all Skills, high FCR, and 20% Magic Find |
Spirit (Rune Word) - one of the best off-hand items you can use in this build. It grants everything you need including increases to All Skills, FCR, and tons of defensive bonuses. It's most commonly socketed in a Monarch |
AMULETS |
Rare/Magic Amulet with + Sorceress/Fire Spells and possibly extra MF, FCR, or Life stats
Mara's Kaleidoscope - you can't go wrong with Mara for almost any build in the game. It offers all the critical affixes for this build |
ARMORS |
[BIS] Chains of Honor (Runeword) - this is the best possible armor you can use here. It grants bonuses to all Skills, and a TON of defenses including massive Resistances, 8% Damage Reduction, and some extra Magic Find. It's best socketed in armor with low Strength Requirements; for example, Dusk Shroud |
Skin of the Vipermagi (Serpentskin Armor) - grants bonus to all Skills and 30% FCR making it one of the most popular Caster armors in Diablo 2 Resurrected |
RINGS |
Rare/Magic Rings with Faster Cast Rate, Resistances, Magic Find, and Bonuses to Life are what you should be looking for. With properly geared characters, 40% MF or
Raven Frost - This ring provides Freeze Immunity which is extremely important to have on almost every build |
The Stone of Jordan - one of the most iconic Rings in Diablo 2 Resurrected. It offers bonus to all Skills and Mana making it one of the best Items you can use on Sorceress, though in this particular build Magic Find is what you may be more interested in |
GLOVES |
Magefist (Light Gauntlets) - in terms of raw damage, the single-best pair for this Fire Sorceress build. They grant bonuses to Fire Skills, FCR, Mana, and add little extra Fire Damage
Chance Guards (Chain Gloves) - if you don't need the extra damage offered by Magefist, or simply want to increase your chances to find valuable Loot, Chance Guards are the best option. They are not really that expensive, so best look for a pair with as close to 40% MF as possible |
BOOTS |
War Traveler (Battle Boots) - the best option for this build. This pair offers the highest Magic Find stat you will find on any boots in D2R, making it a perfect choice for this grind/loot oriented build
Waterwalk (Sharkskin Boots) - You can't go wrong with these boots - they are an extremely solid all-around choice. With them, you will run much faster and never run out of Stamina. They also offer a solid Life bonus |
BELTS |
Arachnid Mesh (Spiderweb Sash) - one of the best caster belts in Diablo 2 Resurrected. It offers a bonus to all Skills and FCR and allows you to slow your targets for extra defensive utility |
Goldwrap (Heavy Belt) - the most popular Magic Find/Gold Find belt in the entire game, if you are comfortably farming your regular spots while wearing it, it's the best choice for this build |
CHARMS |
MERCENARY |
We recommend hiring Act 2 Mercenary with the Might Aura that offers the highest DPS. Your Merc is the only way you can deal with Fire immune monsters, so it's advised to gear it up properly
