Build Overview
Lightning Spells are among the most versatile and devastating abilities in the entire game. With proper gear, a Sorceress that utilizes them can breeze through any content Diablo 2 Resurrected has to offer, even if it features hordes of lightning-immune mobs (again, with proper gear). High-health enemies and hordes of monsters are of no concern for her, as she can easily dodge them with teleport and bury them under a barrage of Lightning bolts. Because of this, a Lightning Sorc is a clear candidate for a top-level end-game Magic Finding build.
The following Lightning Sorceress Magic Finding build was designed for efficient farming in any of the level 85 areas on high /Players difficulty settings. It is capable of dealing extremely high single-target damage that allows it to quickly defeat Bosses and Uniques, and its AoE is potent enough to obliterate packs of regular monsters in just a few casts. While the build's overall Magic Find is relatively low in comparison to some other MF builds, it more than makes up for it with its high dynamics.

Pros | Cons |
Efficiently breaks Lightning immunities when fully geared - can Magic Find anywhere | High RNG when it comes to DPS because of the nature of Lightning Spells |
Great DPS and clear speeds | Not viable for early ladder/leveling - the build relies on high-end gear that is very expensive |
Extremely high mobility | Sacrifices some of its offensive power to stack more Magic Find |
Skills
ATTRIBUTES |
LIGHTNING SPELLS |
This is the core Skill Tree for our Magic Finding Lightning Sorceress Build and you're going to spend almost all of your points on it. You will want to take most of the skills from it, with the exception of Energy Shield (this build is not tailored for it) and Thunder Storm (this one is optional and you may pick it up if you really want it). As for Teleport, you can skip it if you're going to use the Enigma. Skills:
COLD SPELLS |
As far as Cold Spells go, we just need a single Skill that will boost our defense a bit. Skills:
FIRE SPELLS |
From here, we'll get some extra mana regen, which is nice. Skills:

Items
With this build, you should focus your gear around extra Magic Find that is going to make farming much more efficient, +Skills which are going to help with clear speeds, and Lightning Damage/-Enemy Lightning Resistance. Reaching 117% FCR Breakpointis also recommended (Lightning Spells actually have different breakpoints than other Sorc spells, so 105% FCR is not enough to reach 12 FCR frames with them). Moreover, faster Run/Walk and extra Stamina/Stamina Regen are very useful to have as they will boost your overall mobility. |
HELMETS |
Harlequin Crest (Shako) - You can't go wrong with Shako in a Magic-Finding build and thus it's the first item we'd recommend for this Lightning Sorceress. It will give you a nice boost to survivability, MF, and damage. |
Griffon's Eye (Diadem) - This is one of those items that make stacking Magic Find on a Lightning Sorc quite difficult - it's just hard to pass up on Lightning Resistance Penetration, FCR, Lightning Skill Damage, and Skills. |
WEAPONS |
The Oculus (Swirling Crystal) - This amazing Class weapon provides +3 to Sorc Skill Levels, a lot of FCR, some Resistances, and Attributes, but, most importantly, it boasts a +50% Chance of Getting Magic Items. If you want more MF on your MF Sorc (and you do, most likely), this should be your first choice. |
Eschuta's Temper (Eldritch Orb) - This is an amazing weapon for a Lightning Sorceress. It gives everything you need to increase your damage output - Skill Levels, Lightning Skill Damage, and Faster Cast Rate. Just keep in mind that a high-rolled Eschuta's Temper is going to cost you a lot.
Crescent Moon (Runeword) - This is a very interesting choice for the build. Pretty much the only worthwhile stat it gives is the Lightning Resistance Penetration, but it gives -35% of it! With Crescent Moon, lightning-immune enemies won't bother you anymore and you will be able to Magic Find anywhere without losing efficiency. |
Heart of the Oak (Runeword) - You can't go wrong with this classic either, especially if you need some extra Resistances and FCR. HotO is almost a perfect weapon for a Lightning Sorceress, however, it does not offer any Lightning Pen or Magic Find which makes it a bit worse for this particular variation of the build. |
SHIELDS | |
Spirit Shield (Runeword) - A solid choice if you're lacking Resistances, Faster Cast Rate, and Survivability. Also, it's also very cheap to make and gives you +2 to all skills. |
Splendor (Rune Word) - A nice and inexpensive Magic Finding Shield Runeword. It lacks defense but makes up for it with its +1 to all Skills, FCR, Mana Regen, and Magic Find. |
A 4-Socketed Monarch - If you really want to go all-in, you can take a Monarch with 4 open sockets and put 4 Ist Runes into it. Doing so would result in a WShield boasting + 100% Magic Find, but nothing else. |
WEAPON SWAP | |
Call to Arms (Runeword) - This powerful Runeword will allow you to pre-buff yourself up with Warcries (buffs persist through weapon swap). You should combine this with a Shield that gives +2 to All Skills for the best effect. |
AMULETS |
A Magic/Rare Amulet with + Magic Find Affixes - If you can afford one of these, go for it; Magic Amulets can have up to 50% MF (these are more expensive), and Rares can roll up to 35%, which makes them a bit cheaper.
Mara's Kaleidoscope - In a build that wants +All Skills, this amulet is a must for the end game. It provides a great combination of offensive (+2 to all skills) and defensive (+20-30 to all resistances) properties. |
ARMORS |
Chains of Honor (Runeword) - As far as Armors go, CoH is a great all-rounder. It greatly improves your defenses by granting you physical damage reduction and +65 to all Resistances (this is spatially important as it allows you to stack MF Small Charms without sacrificing Resistances to do it). It improves your DPS by giving you +2 to All Skills. It makes it easier to equip heavy gear by providing +20 Strength (this also boosts your survivability indirectly as it allows you to spend more points on Vitality). And it also makes you a bit better at Magic Finding. |
Enigma (Runeword) - Recommending Enigma for a Sorceress feels a bit wrong, but we have to remember that this Armor is not only about the Teleport. It's also about + Skills, Faster Run/Walk, Damage Reduction, and very high Magic Find. You can't go wrong with it, even on a Sorceress. |
Skullder's Ire (Russet Armor) - This relatively cheap armor is going to give you quite a lot of defense, some offensive utility with +1 to All Skills, and up to 125% Magic Find. If you plan on running a Magic Finding Lightning Sorceress on a budget, it might be worth your consideration. |
RINGS |
The Stone of Jordan - You can't go wrong with double SoJ in this build. A pair of these will give you 50% extra mana and a nice boost to DPS. |
Nagelring - This ring can give you up to 30% extra Magic Find and some damage taken reduction. Other than that, it's rather mediocre for a caster, thus you should use it only if you feel like you can afford to sacrifice other stats to gain some MF. |
A Magic Ring with MF Affixes - Rings like these can have up to 50% MF, which is Best in Slot. They are extremely rare, however, and their price is likely to scare you off even if you manage to find one for sale. |
GLOVES |
Chance Guards (Chain Gloves) - These Gloves offer up to 40% MF and a nice bonus to gold drop, and are generally the best Magic Finding choice for this slot. |
Magefist (Light Gauntlets) - Using Magefist over Chance Guards is going to lower your Magic Find by a bit but, in return, you'll get a nice boost to mana regen and +20 FCR, both of which are great bonuses for a Sorceress. |
Defense: 24 - 25 Required Strength: 45 Durability: 18 Required Level: 23
BOOTS |
War Traveler (Battle Boots) - These boots are the only Magic Finding option you have for the slot. From them, you'll get up to 50% MF and a high reduction of stamina drain when running, which is going to allow you to run infinitely. |
BELTS |
Goldwrap (Heavy Belt) - While this is the only belt that offers extra Magic Find, we can't really recommend it unless you feel like you don't need any other useful stats from this slot. |
Arachnid Mesh (Spiderweb Sash) - Picking up this belt over Goldwrap will allow you to be a bit more liberal with gear choices for other slots. This is because Arachnid Mesh is amazing for any caster build. |
CHARMS |

MERCENARY |
We recommend picking up Act 2 Might Mercenary for extra damage bonuses. He should be equipped with:
