Build Overview

Most Starter Builds are designed to be powerful right from the get-go (hence their name). Lightning Fury Javazon is a bit different in this regard, as she is known to actually struggle a bit in the early game (not nearly as much as a Bowazon, mind you). However, she scales extremely well with levels and does not require too many expensive items. Once you get her to ~level 70 or so, she becomes very powerful. At high levels, Lightning Javazon is a real powerhouse that blitzes through monsters at astonishing speeds.

Lightning Fury Javazon is one of the best characters for clearing large packs of enemies which makes her an optimal choice for farming in the Cow Level. On top of that, Her Single-Target damage is on par with most builds specialized in 1v1 combat. As a result, Lightning Fury Javazon is one of the most universal Diablo 2 Resurrected Starter Builds - it just requires a bit more patience early on.

 Pros  Cons
Very high Damage output  Slow starter - She needs quite a lot of levels to show her real potential
Great AoE   End-Game Javazon gear is surprisingly expensive
 High Clear Speeds
 Solid all-around

Skills

ATTRIBUTES
  1. Strength - All you want, in terms of Strength, is enough of it to equip everything you will want to use on your character.
  2. Dexterity - Same as Strength - you only need enough Dexterity to meet gear requirements.
  3. Vitality - You should put all your remaining points here - main stat.
  4. Energy - Adding points to Energy is an extreme waste - don't do it.
JAVELIN AND SPEAR SKILLS

This is the core Skill Tree of this Build. It provides you with two extremely powerful Skills: Single Target Charged Strike and AoE Lightning Fury - these two combined ensure that Lightning Javazon can breeze through any type of content.

Skills:

  1. Jab [1/20] - Prerequisite. Attacks with a series of rapid thrusts using a Javelin or Spear class weapon.
  2. Power Strike [X/20] - Multiple attacks within the time span of a normal attack, each jab a bit less powerful than the last up until level 6. Power Strike is your Synergy Skill, but you should put additional points into it only after you max out Lightning Strike, Charged Strike, and Lightning Fury.
  3. Poison Javelin [1/20] - Prerequisite. Thrown javelin causes poison damage and leaves a trail of poison clouds.
  4. Lightning Bolt [X/20] - Leaves a trail of lightning and does lightning damage. Another Lightning Synergy Skill.
  5. Charged Strike [20/20] - A lightning attack that releases charged bolts. This is your main melee attack, great at fighting Bosses and unique enemies with high amounts of health.
  6. Plague Javelin [1/20] - Prerequisite. Similar to Poison Javelin with an additional cloud of expanding poison at the point of impact.
  7. Lightning Strike [20/20] - Does lightning damage and releases chain lightning from the target. Yet another Lightning Synergy Skill.
  8. Lightning Fury [20/20] - Creates a powerful lightning bolt that releases multiple lightning bolts from the target. Your main clearing ability, capable of annihilating groups of monsters with incredible efficiency. Lightning Fury has a very strong synergy with Pierce - the second release of bolts can occur if another monster or wall lies behind the original target.

PASSIVE AND MAGIC SKILLS

This skill tree offers great utility skills - both passive and active ones. For this build, we focus on the passive power boosts, as they supplement our Javelin skills very well. Having said that, once you max out everything else, you might want to get the Valkyrie as well (especially if you feel like you need some extra defensive power).

Skills:

  1. Critical Strike [1/20] - Grants a chance to do double physical damage with your attacks. 1 Point here is enough, especially when you have some additional soft points from gear (it suffers from diminishing returns, so spending additional points on it is generally a bad idea).
  2. Inner Sight [1/20] - Optional. Prerequisite. Illuminates monsters and decreases their ability to defend themselves.
  3. Dodge [1/20] - Grants a chance to move out of the way of a melee attack while standing still. Dodge is great when you are stuck in melee. It suffers from diminishing returns, just like the Critical Strike, so spending 1 point on it is enough (on level 4, it grants 34% Dodge; on level 20, it grants only 56%...).
  4. Avoid [1/20] - Grants a chance to move out of the way of a missile attack while standing still. Same idea as with the two previous passives - spend 1 point here, no more, because of diminishing returns.
  5. Slow Missiles [1/20] - Optional. Prerequisite. Slows the missiles of nearby enemies.
  6. Penetrate [1/20] - Increases Attack Rating. Unlike the previous passives, Penetrate does not suffer from diminishing returns (it grants 10% to Attack Rating for every skill point, except the first one which gives 35%). Despite that, 1 point is all you should invest here as skill points are precious and we need them elsewhere.
  7. Evade [1/20] - Grants a chance to escape any attack while moving. Same idea as earlier - invest 1 point for a nice passive boost and avoid spending more because of diminishing returns.
  8. Decoy [1/20] - Optional. Prerequisite. Creates a duplicate image to distract enemies.
  9. Pierce [X/20] - A chance that your missile will continue through its victim. Pierce is powerful enough in combination with the Lightning Fury, that you should spend ~5-7 Hard Points on it, even despite the fact that it also suffers from diminishing returns. On level 7, it grants a 63% chance to Pierce the target (55% on level 5).
  10. Valkyrie [X/20] - Optional. Prerequisite. Summons a powerful Valkyrie warrior to fight by your side. If you decide to go for Valkyrie, keep in mind that it gains a lot of strength from additional skill points - spending just 1 point on it is not worth it, generally.
BOW AND CROSSBOW SKILLS

This build focuses on Javelins, so we skip this entire skill tree.

Skills:

  1. none

Items

As per usual with PD2 Builds, you want to get as many Skill levels (Amazon/Javelin and Spear Skills in this case) as possible to increase the build's overall power level. Resistances are also important, but they should never come before the offensive power. Increased Attack Speed is also extremely important as it will allow you to... well, attack faster (just remember to check your breakpoints or you might over/underinvest in it). Defensive stats, like faster hit recovery and life leech/life on each kill, are a nice addition but they should come naturally - don't choose gear because it has these on it.

HELMETS

[Early] Lore (Runeword) - With just a little Rune farming, you should be able to make this Helmet. It will give you a solid early power boost, thanks to +1 to All Skills.

Lore

  • Defense: Depends on base Helmet
  • Required Level: 27
  • Required Strength: Depends on base Helmet
  • Durability: Depends on base Helmet
  • Ort + Sol
    • +1 to All Skills
    • +10 to Energy
    • Lightning Resist +30%
    • Damage Reduced by 7
    • +2 to Mana After Each Kill
    • +2 to Light Radius

[Late] Griffon's Eye (Diadem) - An extremely powerful end-game helmet for a Lightning Fury Javazon. It not only increases all your Skills by 1 but also reduces the enemy Lightning Resistance and increases your Lightning Damage, which is simply amazing.

Griffon's Eye

  • Defense: 150 - 260
  • Required Level: 76
  • Durability: 20
    • +100-200 Defense (varies)
    • +1 to All Skills
    • 25% Faster Cast Rate
    • -(15-20)% to Enemy Lightning Resistance (varies)
    • +(10-15)% to Lightning Skill Damage (varies)

WEAPONS

[Early] Magic Javelins with +3 to Javelin and Spear Skills or Rare Javelins with +2 to Amazon Skills - These are not that hard to get and they offer a very solid early power boost. You can get Increased Attack Speed on these as well. If you're extremely lucky, you can even find a Javelin that gives +6 to Javelin and Spear Skills (but a Jav like that is worth more than most end-game items available in Diablo 2 Resurrected).

Magic Javelin

  • Required Level: varies.
  • In Magic Javelins, look for:
    • + to Javelin and Spear Skills.
    • Life Leech.

  • In Rare Javelins, look for:
    • + 2 to Amazon Skills.
    • Life Leech.
    • Attack Speed

[Late] Thunderstroke (Matriarchal Javelin) - This is one of the most powerful weapons you can have on a Lightning Javazon. It can give you up to +4 to Javelin and Spear Skills on top of -15% enemy lightning resistance, +15% to your Attack Speed, and a high bonus to your Lightning Damage.

Thunderstroke

  • Thrown Damage: 35-66
  • One-Handed Damage: 30-54
  • Required Level: 69
  • Required Strength: 107
  • Required Dexterity: 151
    • +150-200% Enhanced Damage (varies)
    • Adds 1-511 Lightning Damage
    • +15% Increased Attack Speed

    • +2-4 to Javelin and Spear Skills (Amazon Only) (varies)
    • +3 to Lightning Bolt (Amazon Only)
    • Increased Stack Size [60]
SHIELDS

[Early/Late] Spirit Shield (Runeword) - This can be quite hard to make early, as it requires a shield with 4 open sockets (so, you'll need a Monarch, basically). Spirit Shield gives you a lot of Resistances, +1 to All Skills, a lot of mana, vitality, and a high bonus to Faster Hit Recovery.

Spirit Shield

  • Defense: Depends on base Shield
  • Required Level: 25
  • Required Strength: Depends on base Shield
  • Durability: Depends on base Shield
  • Tal + Thul + Ort + Amn

    • Lightning Resist +35%
    • Poison Resist +35%
    • +3-8 Magic Absorb (varies)
    • Attacker Takes Damage of 14

[Late] Stormshield (Monarch) - A powerful defensive option that will allow you to come very close to (or achieve) Max Block. Stormshield is great if you like to have solid defenses.

Stormshield

  • Defense: 136-519 (Depends on your level)
  • Required Level: 73
  • Required Strength: 156
  • Durability: Indestructible

    • +30 to Strength
    • Indestructible
    • Attacker Takes Lightning Damage of 10

AMULETS

[Early] Rare/Magic Amulet with + Amazon/Javelin and Spear Skills would be ideal, but chances of finding these are extremely low. Most likely, you will end up with a Magic Amulet with Magic Find, Attack Rating, and/or Resistances.

    • + to Amazon Skills
    • Magic Find
    • Resistances
    • Attack Rating.

[Late] Highlord's Wrath - This amazing unique Amulet is actually better for this build than Mara's Kaleidoscope (thanks to its +20% Attack Speed increase). The only thing it lacks compared to Mara's is Resistances.

Highlord's Wrath

  • Required Level: 65
    • +1 to All Skills
    • 20% Increased Attack Speed
    • +0-37% Deadly Strike (+0.375 per Character Level)
    • Lightning Resist +35%
    • Adds 1-30 Lightning Damage
    • Attacker Takes Lightning Damage of 15

ARMORS

[Early] Peace (Runeword) - Quite easy to make and quite hard to replace. This powerful early Runeword will give you a lot of power, thanks to the Skill Levels it provides. Chances are, you won't find anything better for a long time.

Peace

  • Defense: Depends on base Armor
  • Required Level: 29
  • Required Strength: Depends on base Armor
  • Durability: Depends on base Armor
  • Shael + Thul + Amn

    • Attacker Takes Damage of 14

[Late] Chains of Honor (Rune Word) - This powerful Runeword offers tons of damage, mitigation, and Resistances (65!) as well as a solid boost to Magic Find. This is, by far, the best CHestpiece you can have on a Javazon.

[Late] Thundergod's Vigor (War Belt) - Belts usually don't give you bonuses to Skills (this is why Arachnid Mesh is so powerful), this one, however, does... Thundergod's Vigor will give you +3 to Lightning Fury and +3 to Lightning Strike, and these are your two main Skills.

Thundergod's Vigor

CHARMS

  1. Grand Charms -  If you're lucky and you find Grand Charms with +Javelin and Spear Skills or Magic and PAssive SKills early, consider yourself lucky. Otherwise, use any of these that offer useful bonuses - Magic Find, Resistances, Life, etc.
  2. Large Charms -  You can find Magic Find, Resistances and bonuses to Life on these which makes them useful early on - if you find these, you should definitely use them.
  3. Small Charms - With these, you should get your desired Resistances, bonuses to Life, or bonuses to Magic Find - whatever suits your needs, basically.
  4. As for Unique Charms; if you can afford them - use them.

MERCENARY

This build does not really need a Merc, but if you want to run one, we recommend picking up Act 2 Defiance Mercenary for extra damage mitigation bonuses, but only if you can afford Insight (or Infinity preferably). He should be equipped with:

  1. Insight Rune Word in Ethereal Spear - This provides a Meditation Aura that increases our Mana Recovery Rate which is extremely helpful.
  2. Fortitude Rune Word in Armor - This Runeword gives solid defenses that are necessary to keep your merc alive.
  3. Vampire Gaze - An extremely solid and versatile headgear that will make your merc much more durable.
  4. The rest of the Merc's equipment will mainly depend on your budget and drops - focusing on items with extra defense, life/vitality, life leech, or offensive mods (like crushing blow) is generally a good idea.
