Build Overview
Necromancer is a class characterized by the ability to raise minions, forming the backbone of this build. The most potent ones here are Shadow Skeletal Mages we've set up to deal tons of damage. Skeletal Warriors and Golem are used too to benefit from the Ultimate Supreme Army of the Dead and Cult Leader Board's Legendary node. As good as Shadow Mages are, they'll be not enough. You will also deal Shadow Damage yourself with Skills like Blight, Corpse Explosion, and Blood Mist - all adjusted to deal Shadow Damage. These have excellent synergy with one another, you can cause Corpse Explosion with Blood Mist if you have the Aspect of Explosive Mist. The build has great durability due to Fortify and the Blood Golem.
Please keep in mind, that the following Guide is oriented more on the end-game rather than leveling. Summoner is a great class for that purpose but will require adjustments and rely more on the basic Minions to progress.

Skills
BONE SPLINTERS [2/5] |
It won't be needed, it's only required to advance further. |
BLIGHT [1/5] |
It deals low damage, then leaves a defiled area that deals damage over 6 seconds. It's used for its powerful modifiers. Modifiers:
|
SEVER [1/5] |
It's a Specter-type Minion that deals damage while charging, then deals damage again as it returns back to you. Here it is used mostly as a source of Vulnerability. Modifiers:
|
CORPSE EXPLOSION [4/5] |
It has no Cost or Cooldown but requires a Corpse. Use it to detonate a Corpse dealing damage to surrounding enemies. You can also Generate Essence with it after allocating Grim Harvest. You won't need to use it directly, it's triggered with Blood Mist via Aspect of Explosive Mist. Modifiers:
|
BLOOD MIST [1/5] |
The character becomes Immune, moves slower, deals insignificant damage to nearby enemies, and heals over time. The effect lasts for 3 seconds and has a 24-second Cooldown. With Blood-soaked Aspect it will deal Shadow Damage. Modifiers:
|
ARMY OF THE DEAD [1/1] |
The Ultimate Skill. For the next 7 seconds, it summons Volatile Skeletons that will explode when in range of an enemy. It has a 70-second Cooldown. Modifiers:
|
Passive Skills
HEWED FLESH [1/3] |
Licky Hits have a 4% chance (8% against bosses) of creating a Corpse. |
GRIM HARVEST [3/3] |
Consuming a Corpse Generates 6 Essence. |
FUELED BY DEATH [3/3] |
After Consuming a Corpse you deal x9% increased damage for 6 seconds. |
NECROTIC CARAPACE [3/3] |
Each time a corpse is spawned by you or your Minions, your character is getting Fortified for 6% of his Base Life. |
REAPER'S PURSUIT [3/3] |
Damaging via Darkness Skills (Blight, Corpse Explosion, Sever) increases Movement Speed by +15% for 3 seconds. |
GLOOM [3/3] |
Damaging via Darkness Skills makes enemies receive a 6% increased Shadow Damage for the next 2 seconds, stacking up to 3 times. |
SKELETAL WARRIOR MASTERY [3/3] |
Simply increases the Life and Damage of Skeletal Warriors by 45%. |
SKELETAL MAGE MASTERY [3/3] |

HELLBENT COMMANDER [3/3] |
While you're Close to your Minions, they deal x30% increased damage. |
Key Passive
SHADOWBLIGHT |
It's where a lot of your damage comes from. Shadow Damage affects enemies with Shadowblight for 2 seconds, which makes your Minions deal 10% bonus damage to them. You need to make sure enemies are receiving damage from Blight or Corpse Explosion constantly. |
Book of the Dead
SKELETAL WARRIORS |
Get the second Reapers upgrade. Skeletal Warriors are not your main damaging minions, so designating them for utility purposes makes the most sense. They will create corpses. Summon them only via Army of the Dead. |
SKELETAL MAGES |
Select the second Shadow upgrade. Mages will fire an additional shadow bolt every 6th attack which is a plain DPS enhancement. |
GOLEMS |
Choose the first Blood Golem upgrade. Golm will absorb some of the damage you take, it's the best upgrade here. |
Items
Here's the stat priority list. Look mostly for Shadow Damage as it's the main type of damage you're specialized in. Enemies should be Slowed with Blight most of the time, and Vulnerable periodically via Sever. A big chunk of the damage will come from Shadow Skeletal Mages. Try to reduce your Cooldowns to cast Blood Mist and Army of the Dead more often. Get a lot of Willpower to reap the benefits from Wither Board's Legendary node.
Use Diamond Gem for Ultimate Skill Damage or Amethyst Gem for DoT in a Weapon slot. Choose Ruby Gem in your Armor to increase your Maximum Life. For the Jewelry, choose Skull for the extra Armor, or any other Gem if you need a specific type of Resistance. |
