Rain of Arrows Rogue Build for Diablo 4
Why fire one arrow when you can rain down hundreds? Our Rogue guide explains how to keep the sky full of arrows and enemies frozen.Rain of Arrows Rogue Build
Last Update: October 31, 2026
Introduction
There is something particularly satisfying about making the sky do your fighting. The Rain of Arrows Rogue covers entire groups with a barrage of arrows, and Crashing Waves drives enemies toward the middle of the impact zone. With Cold Imbuement active, the arrows leave packs Chilled, Weakened and often unable to put up much of a fight. One well-aimed cast can clear a crowded corridor, and the next one is usually ready much sooner than the size of the attack suggests.
The trick is turning an Ultimate Skill into an attack you can use over and over. Beastfall Boots spend all your Energy whenever you cast Rain of Arrows, making each volley stronger. The Rogue's Preparation Specialization turns that Energy expenditure into Cooldown reduction, while Aspect of Aftermath puts Energy back into the bar. Once you have enough Maximum Energy, Rain of Arrows ranks and Cooldown Reduction, the long wait between volleys almost disappears. Until then, the build has a much more measured pace.
A second layer comes from Legacy of the Sightless. Entering Stealth cuts the remaining Ultimate Cooldown, and breaking it gives your next attack a major boost. The full Talisman set also brings a permanent Shadow Clone that joins in with Rain of Arrows. Dash helps you slip into Stealth before an attack, while Concealment provides a reliable reset whenever the set's effect is available. This makes the opening seconds of a fight feel like setting up a proper ambush.
It is an explosive ranged build, but positioning still matters. The arrows take a moment to land, and an Elite rushing out of their path can waste a powerful cast. Scoundrel's Kiss rewards keeping enemies at a distance, while Dark Shroud and Shrouded Gift provide protection when the battlefield gets messy. Players who enjoy freezing entire packs, moving between firing positions and chaining big attacks will have a lot of fun once the equipment comes together.

Equipment
Beastfall Boots are the first Unique to hunt down. They make every Rain of Arrows cast consume your Energy and reward that expenditure with a substantial damage increase. Just as importantly, the spending feeds Preparation, which reduces the Ultimate's Cooldown. Pair the Boots with Aspect of Aftermath on the Amulet to recover Energy after each cast. The whole rotation depends on these two pieces working together, so prioritize them.
Scoundrel's Kiss fills Ring 1 and gives the character a good reason to keep its distance. The ring builds Ferocity when no enemies are Close and increases Marksman Skill damage for each stack. Ferocious Aspect goes on your two-handed Crossbow and raises the Ferocity limit. The ring's damage bonus makes these extra stacks valuable even when Rain of Arrows uses a different damage upgrade. After stepping away from a pack, give Ferocity a moment to build before attacking a particularly tough Elite.
Legacy of the Sightless is the preferred five-piece Talisman set. Entering Stealth shortens the remaining Ultimate Cooldown, and breaking Stealth improves the next burst. With the full set, a permanent Shadow Clone can cast Rain of Arrows as well. Shrouded Gift on Pants complements that setup by linking Stealth to Concealment and giving you Damage Reduction after you reappear.
The remaining offense comes from carefully chosen Legendary slots. Vehement Brawler's Aspect on Gloves adds Ultimate Skill ranks and improves damage after a cast. High Velocity Aspect on one one-handed weapon strengthens Marksman Skills, while Aspect of Frozen Memories on Ring 2 rewards hitting Chilled or Frozen targets. Put Aspect of Imitated Imbuement on the other one-handed weapon. Its Non-Physical damage bonus works well with Cold Imbuement, and its Shadow Clone interaction fits the Talisman set.
For defenses, Aspect of Heavenly Strength belongs on a Legendary Chest Armor. Rain of Arrows uses a two-handed ranged weapon, so its Damage Reduction is a welcome layer while you stand still to aim. Leoric's Crown is the recommended Helm for stronger socketed gem effects and Attack Speed. Cowl of the Nameless offers an alternative if you prefer additional Cold Imbuement explosions in dense packs. Either Helm works, but the change affects which affixes and gem bonuses you can rely on.
Aim for roughly 225 Maximum Energy and a Rain of Arrows Cooldown close to 15 seconds as your first major gearing goals. Aspect of Aftermath must also restore enough Energy to support the next attack; high Rain of Arrows ranks make a big difference. If the loop is inconsistent, use the Cooldown upgrade on Rain of Arrows and improve your resource rolls before investing further into damage. Once these requirements are comfortable, the build becomes much faster and easier to play.
Legacy of the Sightless
- Berú of the Sightless
- Fer of the Sightless
- Linta of the Sightless
- Mlor of the Sightless
- Phoba of the Sightless
- (2) Set: Entering Stealth reduces any active Ultimate Skill Cooldowns by 6 seconds. Breaking Stealth grants 60%[x] increased damage for 6 seconds.
- (3) Set: Using an Ultimate Skill resets Concealment's Cooldown. Concealment gains all Upgrades for free and grants 60% Damage Reduction while active, then 30% for 6 seconds.
- (5) Set: Gain a permanent Shadow Clone that can also cast Death Trap and Rain of Arrows. Breaking Stealth grants an additional 250%[x] increased damage.
Beastfall Boots
- Maximum Resource
When you cast a non-Channeled Ultimate Skill, it consumes all your Energy and deals [0.60 - 0.75]%[x] increased damage per Energy consumed. Using a Cooldown restores 25 Energy.
Scoundrel's Kiss
- Attack Speed
Gain 1 Ferocity every 2 seconds while no enemies are Close. Your Marksman Skills deal [12.0 - 15.0]%[x] increased damage per Ferocity stack.
Shrouded Gift
- Movement Speed
Whenever you gain Stealth, you also gain Concealment. Gain [25 - 30]% Damage Reduction while Stealthed and for 8 seconds after breaking Stealth.
Leoric's Crown
- Attack Speed
This item counts as Jewelry. The effect of a gem socketed in this Helm is increased by [35 - 50]%[x].
Cowl of the Nameless
- Ranks to Imbuement Skills
Lucky Hit: Imbued Skills have up to a 40% chance to trigger a large explosion, dealing 75% of the damage dealt and applying the Imbuement effect to enemies hit with [120 - 150]% Potency.
Gladiator's Triumph
The first direct damage you deal to an enemy is a guaranteed Critical Strike. When a Marksman Skill first Critically Strikes, it gains [90 - 120]%[x] increased damage and you gain 1 Overpower. This can stack up to 4 over your Maximum Overpower.
The following Legendary Aspects fit the recommended equipment together: Aftermath on Amulet, Frozen Memories on Ring 2, Vehement Brawler on Gloves, Heavenly Strength on Chest Armor, High Velocity on Main Hand, Imitated Imbuement on Off-Hand and Ferocious on the two-handed Crossbow. The remaining slots are occupied by Uniques. Both one-handed weapons are retained for their Aspect bonuses even though Rain of Arrows attacks with the Crossbow.
Aspect of Aftermath
Casting an Ultimate Skill generates [5.0 - 8.0] Energy per Skill Rank it has.
Ferocious Aspect
Your Maximum Ferocity stacks are increased by [4 - 6].
Vehement Brawler's Aspect
Casting an Ultimate Skill increases your damage by [35 - 55]%[x] for 8 seconds. Gain 2 additional Ultimate Skill Ranks.
High Velocity Aspect
Marksman Skills deal 55%[x] increased damage. This bonus increases to 80%[x] against Healthy enemies.
Aspect of Imitated Imbuement
Your Shadow Clones and Shades mimic the Imbuements applied to your Skills. Casting an Imbuement Skill increases your Non-Physical damage by [40 - 60]%[x] for 9 seconds.
Aspect of Frozen Memories
Cold damage deals [30 - 45]%[x] increased damage to Chilled enemies. This bonus is tripled against Frozen enemies.
Aspect of Heavenly Strength
While wielding a Two-Handed Weapon, gain 30% Damage Reduction.
For Affixes, prioritize Ranks to Rain of Arrows, Maximum Resource, Cooldown Reduction, Critical Strike Chance, Critical Strike Damage, Dexterity and Cold Damage. Higher Rain of Arrows ranks also improve the Energy returned by Aftermath. Add Maximum Life, Armor and Resistance to All Elements for defense. A Greater Affix on Beastfall Boots' Maximum Resource or Scoundrel's Kiss Attack Speed is valuable, while Legendary gear should focus on Cooldown Reduction until the attack loop is reliable.
Skills
15/15Primary DPS: Rain of Arrows blankets a large section of the battlefield with repeated arrow hits. Crashing Waves draws enemies toward the center and applies Vulnerable, letting the next wave punish anything that survives. Cold Imbuement adds Chill and Weaken, while the Shadow Clone from Legacy of the Sightless joins the barrage.
Max this Skill and choose Crashing Waves, Cooldown and Cast Speed and Lucky Hit. Cooldown helps reach the Preparation breakpoint earlier, and faster casting makes it easier to hit moving enemies. When your Energy and Cooldown setup is exceptionally strong, Double Damage can replace Cooldown for harder hits.
15/15Utility/Offence: Cold Imbuement gives Rain of Arrows its freezing bite. Enemies struck by the imbued attack become Chilled and Weakened, opening them up to Frozen Memories. In dense packs, the resulting control can keep a dangerous Elite in the barrage long enough for the next wave to land.
Take Buffered Battery for a useful Barrier during repeated Cold hits, with Cooldown and Resolve for frequent recasts and protection. Activate Cold Imbuement before Rain of Arrows and refresh it whenever it becomes available.
1/15Utility/Offence: Concealment supplies a reliable Stealth window before each major attack. Legacy of the Sightless makes entering Stealth shorten the Ultimate Cooldown, while breaking Stealth raises damage. Its three-piece bonus resets Concealment whenever Rain of Arrows is used, making the two Skills feel naturally linked.
Choose Calculation for additional Critical Strike Chance after you reveal yourself. The Talisman set grants the remaining Concealment upgrades for free, including defensive benefits. Cast it immediately before Rain of Arrows whenever possible.
1/15Utility/Mobility: Dash gets you away from melee threats and sets up the next attack. The Primer upgrade grants Stealth at the end of the movement and helps build Ferocity, making a short reposition a useful part of the damage sequence.
Take Primer, Critical Strike Chance and Charges and Cooldown Reduction. Use Dash across the edge of a pack, then aim Rain of Arrows from the new position. Higher Dash ranks can improve how much Ferocity you gain from Primer.
1/15Utility/Mobility: Shadow Step covers larger gaps, helps you escape a dangerous corner and gives a short Unstoppable window. The Artifice variant leaves a decoy behind, which is particularly handy when monsters start running toward your firing position.
Choose Artifice, Cooldown and Unstoppable. Artifice lets you use Shadow Step to cross open ground, leave a decoy behind and move away from incoming attacks.
1/15Utility/Def: Dark Shroud protects the Rogue during the brief moment it takes to fire another barrage. Its protective shadows increase Elemental Resistances, while the skill upgrades can supply Dodge Chance and speed for moving into a safer position.
Select Shadow Dancer, Critical Strike and Movement Speed. Keep several shadows active before a difficult encounter and refresh them when you expect to take repeated hits.
Core Rotation
Begin by activating Cold Imbuement and refreshing Dark Shroud. Use Dash to enter Stealth at the edge of the pack, or activate Concealment when you want to set up a stronger attack. Aim Rain of Arrows through the center of the group. Crashing Waves pulls enemies together, while the Cold damage spreads Chill across the targets. The Talisman set adds a second barrage from your Shadow Clone, so even a large Elite group can be hit by overlapping attacks.
After the volley, Beastfall Boots have spent your Energy and Preparation reduces the Ultimate Cooldown. Aspect of Aftermath starts replenishing Energy, and the Legacy of the Sightless bonus makes Concealment ready again. Slip back into Stealth and repeat once both your resource and the Ultimate are available. Against Bosses, stand far enough away to keep Scoundrel's Kiss working, watch their movement before committing to a cast, and save Shadow Step for an emergency.
Miscellaneous
Paragon Board
Start with Cheap Shot for damage against enemies affected by Crowd Control, then move through Exploit Weakness to benefit from the Vulnerable applied by Crashing Waves. Eldritch Bounty improves the Cold damage package and provides a useful defensive boost. Finish with Danse Macabre, which rewards weaving Dash and Concealment between offensive casts. These boards support the build's natural habit of moving, setting up Stealth and firing one powerful volley.
Use Devious, Versatility, Combat, Control and Assassin as your main Glyphs. Devious and Control strengthen damage to controlled enemies, while Combat and Assassin give you stronger Critical Strikes and Elite damage. Prioritize the most efficient Glyph sockets and Legendary Nodes, taking Dexterity, Maximum Life and Resistance nodes along the way.
Rogue Specialization
Preparation is essential. Every 75 Energy spent reduces the Cooldown of your Ultimate Skill by 5 seconds. Beastfall Boots trigger a large Energy expenditure whenever Rain of Arrows is cast, allowing Preparation to cut a substantial portion of the remaining Cooldown. This is why Maximum Energy and Energy recovery are core damage stats for this build, not just comfort upgrades.
Runes
Cir + Vex grants additional Skill Ranks after repeated casts, strengthening both Rain of Arrows and the Energy refunded through Aspect of Aftermath. Zan + Gar uses frequent Ultimate casts to generate Offering and improve Critical Strike Chance. Each Runeword uses one valid two-socket item; Chest Armor and Pants are convenient places for these pairs.
Talisman
Complete the five pieces of Legacy of the Sightless: Berú, Fer, Linta, Mlor and Phoba of the Sightless. The two-piece bonus turns Stealth into another source of Ultimate Cooldown Reduction, while the three-piece bonus resets Concealment and reinforces your defenses. The full set is the main reason the build can deliver a second Rain of Arrows through its permanent Shadow Clone.
Use Gladiator's Triumph in the sixth Charm slot. Its guaranteed first Critical Strike and bonus damage to Marksman Skills are particularly useful when a new pack enters the first volley. Favor Maximum Resource, Ranks to Rain of Arrows, Critical Strike Damage and other strong offensive bonuses on your Charms.
Mercenary
Hire Raheir with Shield Charge, Raheir's Guard, Provoke and Mocking Lure. His protection gives you a little more room to line up Rain of Arrows while staying out of melee range. Choose Aldkin as Reinforcement with Field of Languish for additional control against clustered enemies.
Final Thoughts
The Rain of Arrows Rogue makes an Ultimate Skill feel like a true main attack. Big Cold barrages, frequent Stealth windows and a Shadow Clone create an enjoyable loop that can flatten packs before they reach you. It takes time to solve the Energy and Cooldown requirements, but the finished setup rewards every successful cast with an impressive amount of damage and control.
