Holy Light Aura Paladin Build for Diablo 4

Run through dungeons with Holy Light Aura burning nearby enemies. Explore our Auradin Paladin build and its key aspects.

Holy Light Aura Paladin Build

Last Update: October 28, 2026

Introduction

The Holy Light Aura Auradin Paladin is a fast endgame Build with excellent Area Damage, high mobility, and a very comfortable farming playstyle. The Build revolves around Holy Light Aura, which continuously damages nearby enemies as the Paladin moves across the battlefield. With the right equipment, entire packs are eliminated as you travel through them, making Auradin particularly effective for dungeons, Infernal Hordes, and general endgame farming.

The core of the Build is based around Dawnfire, a Unique pair of Gloves that transforms Holy Light Aura into a powerful source of continuous Fire Damage. Every enemy killed within its radius increases the Aura's damage and area, allowing it to grow considerably stronger during extended combat. Sundered Night provides additional Aura Skill Ranks and a substantial Aura Potency bonus, while Defiance Aura and Fanaticism Aura reinforce the Paladin's defensive and offensive capabilities. The result is a character that can maintain excellent damage output with very little manual attacking, leaving plenty of freedom for movement, defensive abilities, and repositioning.

Aura Potency is one of the strongest ways to scale this Build. It improves the effects of Aura Skills and benefits from additional Skill Ranks, allowing highly developed Holy Light Aura setups to deliver considerable Fire Damage. Sundered Night adds Aura Skill Ranks and a large Potency bonus while standing inside Consecration. Cathan's Iron Conviction adds more Potency, Damage Reduction, and extra Aura effects through its set bonuses. Together with Dawnfire, these items form the main source of damage and survivability.

The Paladin also has reliable defensive abilities for fighting at close range. Defiance Aura, Rally, and Falling Star help maintain protection and mobility while Dawnfire clears nearby enemies. Boss encounters take longer because there are fewer opportunities to build Dawnfire stacks, so high Aura Skill Ranks, Aura Potency, Cooldown Reduction, and dependable Arbiter uptime are important. The Build relies on several specialized Unique Items and is primarily suited to endgame farming and Pit progression.

Pros

  • Exceptional AoE Damage and fast dungeon clearing
  • Great for speed farming, Infernal Hordes, and general endgame activities
  • High Movement Speed and mobility
  • Extremely comfortable playstyle with mostly passive damage

Cons

  • Requires Dawnfire and other specialized equipment to reach its full potential
  • Weaker single-target Boss Damage compared to dedicated Pit-pushing Builds

Equipment

The most important piece of equipment is Dawnfire. Its Unique effect makes Holy Light Aura deal continuous Fire Damage around the Paladin. Nearby kills increase the damage and area for 20 seconds, up to ten stacks, while activating the Aura refreshes their duration. Additional Holy Light Aura Skill Ranks improve the strength of the effect, making Gloves the first major equipment upgrade.

Sundered Night is our preferred weapon. Activating an Aura creates Consecration beneath the Paladin, and standing inside it grants a large Aura Potency bonus. Extra Aura Skill Ranks strengthen Holy Light Aura, Defiance Aura, and Fanaticism Aura. As a two-handed Axe, it occupies both weapon slots, leaving the remaining Legendary equipment for offensive and defensive Aspects.

For the Talisman, use Cathan's Iron Conviction. Two pieces grant Aura Potency, three pieces grant Damage Reduction and all Aura Variants and Upgrades without their Faith cost, and the five-piece bonus unlocks Conviction Aura. Start with the three-piece bonus and complete the set as your Charm collection develops. Aura Skill Ranks and Strength are useful bonuses on the individual Charms.

The remaining slots accommodate survivability and Legendary Aspects. Use Legendary Chest Armor, Boots, Amulet, and two Rings for the five Aspects listed below. Leoric's Crown and Tibault's Will fill the Helm and Pants slots. Harlequin Crest, Shroud of False Death, and Stone of Jordan are additional options for characters with different equipment priorities.

With Disciple Oath, Falling Star grants Arbiter form and builds Aspect of Ascension stacks. The offensive Aspects improve Fire Damage and Vulnerable Damage during farming, while the remaining pieces contribute defense and utility. Look for Aura Skill Ranks, Aura Potency, Cooldown Reduction, and Maximum Life on suitable equipment slots.

Holy Light Aura's passive deals [390 - 450] Fire Damage each second around you. Every enemy killed within the aura increases its damage by 15%[+] and burn area by 10%[+] for 20 seconds, up to 10 stacks. Activating Holy Light Aura refreshes the stack duration.

For Legendary Aspects, the recommended two-handed configuration places Aspect of Ascension on Ring 1, Aspect of Holy Punishment on Ring 2, Aspect of Celestial Strife on the Amulet, Aspect of the Disciple on Boots and Aspect of Angelic Masterwork on Chest Armor. All five fit into free slots alongside Dawnfire and Sundered Night. The offensive effects reinforce Fire Damage, Arbiter uptime and Vulnerable damage while clearing. Disciple supplies Weaken through Disciple Skills, and Angelic Masterwork strengthens elemental defenses in Arbiter form. For a dedicated Resolve and Block version with Fortress, Aspect of Interdiction and Aspect of the Indomitable remain possible alternatives, but their value depends on actually generating Resolve and Block Chance.

Aspect of the Disciple

Disciple Skills apply Weaken to enemies for 8 seconds. Damage taken from Weakened enemies is reduced by [10 - 15]%.

Helm, Chest Armor, Pants, Boots, Gloves, Amulet, Main Hand, Off-Hand

Aspect of Ascension

Casting a Skill that grants Arbiter form increases your damage by [5.0 - 7.0]%[x], stacking up to 10 times. All stacks are lost when Arbiter form ends.

Two-Handed Bludgeoning, Two-Handed Slashing, Amulet (+50%), Gloves, Main Hand, Off-Hand, Ring 1, Ring 2

Aspect of Angelic Masterwork

All Resistance is increased by 140% while in Arbiter form.

Amulet (+50%), Chest Armor, Helm, Main Hand, Off-Hand, Pants

For offensive Affixes, prioritize Holy Light Aura Skill Ranks, Aura Potency, Strength, and Fire Damage. Cooldown Reduction supports Falling Star and Arbiter uptime, while Movement Speed improves farming efficiency. Attack Speed also contributes to Holy Light Aura damage. Maximum Life, Armor, Elemental Resistances, and Damage Reduction complete the defensive setup. Use suitable Aura-related Tempering bonuses on Legendary items and Masterwork the strongest offensive rolls.

Skills

15/15
Holy Light Aura

Primary DPS: The passive effect deals Holy Damage to nearby enemies, while Dawnfire turns it into a damaging Fire aura. Each nearby kill adds another stack of Fire Damage and increases the affected area.

Max the Skill Ranks and pick Potency and Additional Targets for the passive effect. Rite of Mercy provides Fortify when the active bolts return. Activate the Aura regularly to refresh Dawnfire stacks.

15/15
Defiance Aura

Utility/Def: Passively grants Armor and All Resistances to you and nearby allies. Activating it also provides a short period of Unstoppable, which is very useful against dangerous crowd control.

The Maximum Life and Potency upgrades reinforce its defensive value. Rite of Prayer adds passive healing and generates Resolve, while the Unstoppable upgrade provides an additional safeguard when injured.

15/15
Fanaticism Aura

Utility/Offence: Spending Faith grants nearby allies Attack Speed and Critical Strike Chance through its passive effect. Activating the Aura applies a debuff to enemies and triggers Consecration from Sundered Night.

Take Rite of Humility to apply Vulnerable with the active effect. Extra Passive Stack and Potency strengthen its passive bonuses. The Vulnerable application is especially useful with Aspect of Celestial Strife.

1/15
Falling Star

Utility/Mobility: A fast dive attack that grants Arbiter form through Disciple Oath. Repeated activations maintain the form and build damage from Aspect of Ascension.

Additional Charge is the most important upgrade for reliable Arbiter uptime. Follow with Cooldown Reduction and the Vulnerable enhancement. Use the skill frequently during farming and save a charge for dangerous boss attacks.

1/15
Rally

Utility/Mobility: Grants Faith and a Movement Speed bonus, making it useful for travelling between packs and keeping your movement buffs active during combat.

Words of Rejuvenation provides extra Faith and another charge. The Unhindered and Movement Speed upgrade improves movement through crowded areas, while Duration Bonus extends the buff.

1/15
Advance

Utility/Mobility: Closes the distance to nearby enemies and helps the Paladin move through large packs while keeping them inside the damaging Aura. It also generates Faith on contact.

Choose Flash of the Blade to turn the attack into a Disciple Skill and apply Vulnerable as you dash through enemies. Unhindered improves travel, while the Critical Strike Chance upgrade adds a small offensive bonus.

1/15
Consecration

Utility/Def: Creates an area that heals allies and damages enemies. Sundered Night generates it whenever an Aura Skill is activated, granting additional Aura Potency while you stand within its area.

Hallowed Ground improves the area and adds damage to allies standing inside. The Duration upgrade extends its useful window, and Fortify provides another defensive benefit when the skill hits enemies.

1/15
Fortress

Utility/Def: Creates a protective area that grants Resolve and an initial period of Immunity. It is a useful alternative to Rally or Advance when more defense is needed for difficult encounters.

The Free Cast and Unstoppable upgrades provide additional utility inside the area. Resolve Damage Bonus improves damage for configurations that generate Resolve consistently, while Rampart of Thorns slows nearby enemies.

Core Rotation

Begin by activating Holy Light Aura, Defiance Aura and Fanaticism Aura. Each Aura cast can trigger Consecration from Sundered Night; stand within its area during key damage windows. Use Falling Star to enter Arbiter form through Disciple Oath, then maintain that form by recasting Falling Star before its duration expires. Once Dawnfire has several stacks, its passive Fire Damage can remove ordinary enemies as the Paladin moves through them.

While clearing maps, use Advance to travel between packs and activate Holy Light Aura frequently enough to refresh Dawnfire. Against elites and bosses, position Consecration under the target, keep it active when safe, and use Rally for extra protection. If you choose the Fortress variant, cast it to support Resolve-based defenses. Single-target fights take longer because Dawnfire gains fewer new stacks, so prioritize uptime, positioning and survival.

Miscellaneous

Paragon Board

For Paragon, start with boards that provide efficient damage and defensive nodes, then extend into Relentless, Castle, Beacon and Endure. The Relentless board helps reinforce combat consistency, while Castle and Endure support the survivability required to stay close to enemies. Prioritize the most accessible Legendary Nodes and Glyph sockets before spending heavily on distant secondary nodes.

Relentless and Beacon provide useful offensive directions for a build based on repeated Aura activations and Arbiter form. Castle helps when your Armor and damage reduction are already developed. Check each board's available connecting paths, and preserve enough Armor, Maximum Life and Elemental Resistance to withstand melee-range pressure in the Pit.

On a developed character, improve offensive Legendary Nodes and Glyph bonuses after completing the core defensive path. Maximum Life, Armor, and Cooldown Reduction are valuable throughout the Paragon setup, with Aura damage multipliers providing the strongest improvements against tougher enemies.

For Glyphs, prioritize Resplendence, Judicator, Spirit, Honed and Exploit. Resplendence is valuable for its Aura-related utility, while Judicator and Honed improve the damage package and Spirit supports critical-hit scaling. Exploit becomes more valuable when the build can apply Vulnerable consistently. Raise your most impactful Glyphs first and complete their attribute requirements through nearby Paragon nodes.

Runes

For Runes, Cir + Ceh is a useful offensive and utility combination: Cir generates Offering through repeated skill use, and Ceh spends that Offering to summon Spirit Wolves. This is particularly interesting because Holy Light Aura can benefit from nearby allies. Ensure that your equipment has a valid two-socket location for the Runeword.

A second option is Bac + Ohm, combining movement-based Offering with a Barbarian War Cry invocation for an extra damage window. The choice between the two setups depends on the speed of your farming route and the socket space available. If additional safety is needed, a defensive Rune combination can be used in place of the secondary damage effect.

Talisman

Use Cathan's Iron Conviction for its Aura bonuses. The two-piece bonus increases Aura Potency, the three-piece bonus grants Damage Reduction and Aura Variants and Upgrades, and the full set provides Conviction Aura. Complete the three-piece bonus first and fill the remaining Charm slots with useful Aura Skill Ranks and offensive effects.

A Legendary Seal with an additional Charm Slot makes it possible to equip the complete Cathan's Iron Conviction set alongside a separate Charm. Choose Charm bonuses that improve Aura Skill Ranks, Strength, Fire Damage, and Maximum Life. Offensive selections are most valuable once the required set bonuses are active.

Mercenary

For the Hired Mercenary, take Raheir with Ground Slam, Raheir's Aegis, Bastion, and Inspiration. He improves survivability while the Paladin stands in Consecration, and Inspiration provides an additional damage bonus during difficult encounters.

Choose Varyana as Reinforcement with Bloodthirst, triggered by casting a Skill in combat. Her Attack Speed support is useful during fast dungeon clearing and works well with the frequent Aura activations. Aldkin's Field of Languish is an alternative for additional control during harder encounters.

Final Thoughts

The Holy Light Aura Auradin Paladin excels at quick endgame farming with powerful passive Fire Damage, high mobility, and solid defenses. Dawnfire and Sundered Night provide the main damage scaling, while Falling Star maintains Arbiter form for smooth combat and movement.
