Season 8 Guide and Boss Power Tier List
Diablo IV - Season of the Belial's Return

The mysterious and deceitful Belial, the Lord of Lies makes enterce into the world of Sanctuary, marking the beginning of the newest, eighth Season in the Diablo 4. It brings us many new mechanics, but in the biggest spotlight are the reworked Boss encounters. Not only the battles are now more engaging, but you will now be able to harness their powers for your own use!

Boss Powers

The most important feature that distinguishes this Season from any other is the new Boss Powers available for you to harness for your own use. After defeating Bosses, you will unlock their signature move, which can be set to be your Main Boss Power or can be used to Modify it. You can select one Main Power and up to 3 Modifications. Don't worry about complex rotations - all Powers are triggered automatically once you fulfill their condition, such as using a Core Skill or damaging a Vulnerable Enemy.

There is also a progression system, as each Boss Power has up to 20 Ranks that can be upgraded using the Spectral Ash, obtained in the Apparition Incursions. The Boss Powers are divided into 3 Rarity Tiers: Magic, Rare, and Legendary. It affects how much Spectral Ash it takes to fully upgrade one ability, but the difference is not that big. It is also important for their unlocking: Magic and Rare Powers can be acquired at any difficulty level by slaying the corresponding Boss, while the Legendary Powers can be obtained only on the Torment 1 Difficulty level or higher.

Main Boss Powers Tier List

Of course, not all Powers are made equal. Some or much stronger, or more versatile for your needs. The best Powers are obviously the ones that you enjoy the most - maybe it's because of their visual effect, design, or utility they bring to your Build.

We encourage you to try them out at least once, although our Tier list may help you decide which one you want to use in the long run. Keep in mind it's not just about their effect, but also how easily it is to trigger them in your setup. Remember, you can pick up only one of those Powers for your Build.

Boss Power Modifiers Tier List

Once you settle for a specific Main Power, you should consider what 3 Modifiers you should apply to it. The best ones are usually the easy source of massive Damage boosts for your character. The defensive bonuses are also very useful, especially since the main focus of this Season is fighting powerful Bosses after all, so any extra defense or sustain can come in handy.

Apparition Incursions

The aforementioned Apparition Incursions are the only source of Spectral Ash used to upgrade your Powers. It is an open-world event that requires players to gather together in a random zone to fight off waves of incoming enemies. Once you fill the progression bar, a random Apparition Boss will spawn. Once defeated, the Incursion will move to another location, which you will have to defend again, repeating the cycle. However, slaying the Bossa a second time will summon a weaker version of Belial himself. Upon defeat, he will leave valuable rewards, including the Spectral Ash. On normal difficulty, you will only earn 45 Spectral Ash on average per encounter, which is not a lot, as you will need almost 3000 of it to fully upgrade one Power. Increasing the difficulty massively upgrades the amount of Ash, so it is a good idea to group up with other players to tackle the challenge on the highest available Difficulty level for you.
