Cyclone Slayer
RT/Budget build

Updated for Patch 3.7

The Best Crafty Guides by Odealo

Estimated budget: very low

Guide notes

-Build created

Cyclone is currently the single-best Melee Attack in Path of Exile and is used by 50% of all the players in Legion League. Also, Slayer became the most popular Ascendacy Class with high Melee Damage bonuses and the highest benefits from Life Leech. This build was made purely to allow farming end-game content on a 1 Exalted Orb budget (excluding Skill Gems, which should be obtained during the leveling/early mapping phase). At the same time, this build offers very good clear speed with Rampage allowing efficient currency farming and transitioning into meta in no time.

You can also check our other Path of Exile builds: Odealo's Crafty Guides - Full List

1. Gameplay

This builds is extremely easy to master. All you have to do is spin through enemies and obliterate everything in your path. With the recommended gear, your Cyclone should cost near to 0 Mana allowing you to endlessly spam it. Most of the buffs are triggered automatically as well, making it even smoother. All you need to do is place Ancestral Warchief and Dread Banner manually to gain extra burst DPS against Bosses. You can also benefit from insane Rampage bonuses on Maps with high monster density, allowing even covering the entire screen with your Cyclone.

The video was recorded on a level 88 Slayer on a merely 1 Exalted Orb budget

2. Build's PROS & CONS

PROS
  • extremely cheap
  • solid DPS
  • all content viable
  • high Life, Leech, and Armour Rating
  • smooth leveling
  • can do Physical Reflect Maps
CONS
  • will struggle on no Leech Maps

3. Leveling tips

Leveling a Duelist/Slayer is quite easy, however, may feel slow at first. You should primarily focus high DPS Two-Handed Axe, and get as much Life and Elemental Resistances on your other gear. Also, getting extra Movement Speed is always nice on lower levels. You can start off with any preferred Attack Skill, and switch to Cyclone at level 28. Cyclone offers much better clear speed and damage than most of the other available Gems. Below you will find basic Gem setups and several useful uniques that can help you level up quickly.

Suggested leveling Gem setups:

Cleave setup
Cleave Cleave - very strong AoE Attack which has good base damage and attacks multiple enemies with each swing
Melee Physical Damage Melee Physical Damage Support - a great boost to Physical Damage
Ruthless Support Ruthless Support - every 3rd hit with Cleave will deal much higher damage

5. Gear Setup

Below you will find the recommended gear for this build. We are only listing items that will make all the equipment affordable on a mere 1 Exalted Orb budget including Sockets/Links/enchantments/Flask and Jewels. With a basic understanding of the build and fight mechanic, it should allow you to face Shaper on a level 90 character.

Using this opportunity, we would love to invite you to visit our Path of Exile Marketplace where you can buy cheap PoE Currency in case you can't afford all the items for your character.

Our recommended items will:
