Borderlands 4 Weapons – Why They're Unique & Highly Sought After

Weapons are the heart of the Borderlands experience, and in Borderlands 4 they’re more varied and customizable than ever. What sets them apart:

  • Licensed Parts System: Weapons can now mix components from different manufacturers, creating hybrid effects and allowing greater variety in stats and perks. 
  • Distinct Manufacturer Traits: Each of the 8 weapon manufacturers (returning and new) has its feel, strengths, and signature perks. For example, some specialize in precision (Order), others in elemental effects (Maliwan), or high fire rate (Vladof, etc.). 
  • Alternative Fire Modes & Attachments: Having alt-fire modes, underbarrels, different weapon attachments, elemental damage types and more, lets players build and adapt weapons for different combat scenarios. 
  • Legendary and Red‑Text Effects: Legendary weapons aren’t just stronger statistically. Many have unique “red text” abilities that introduce completely new mechanics like ammo refund on crit, spawning additional projectiles, or effects that significantly change how you play. 

Because of all this, weapons are arguably the most traded item type in Borderlands 4: everyone wants the unique‑effect legendaries, god‑rolls, rare perks, etc.

Types of Weapons & Most Iconic Legendary Drops
