Last Update: October 22, 2026
Introduction

Hero: Cateye Erika
Hero Trait: Wind Stalker (Erika 1)
Main Skill: Thunder Spike
Damage: Lightning Melee Attacks, Shadow Strikes and Numbed
Season: SS14 Tartarus
Erika races across the Netherrealm in a flurry of sparks, striking one pack with Thunder Spike as her Shadows sweep through the next. Wind Stalker turns all that movement into Stalker stacks and keeps Multistrike Count intact while the trait is active. Attacking, repositioning and picking up speed soon become part of the same fluid routine.
This build develops Thunder Spike from level 14 through Timemark 8 and Profound. The skill converts Physical Damage to Lightning, and its Shadow Strikes spread pressure across nearby enemies. Numbed adds another source of damage against durable targets. The talent setup combines Impermanence, Rushed, Joined Force and Conductive, with Ranger providing dependable critical strikes through Fluke. Erika's pace makes ordinary maps a pleasure to clear. Boss fights put more emphasis on her weapon damage, Multistrike uptime and ability to survive at melee range.
Pros
- Excellent map traversal and quick pack-to-pack combat
- Strong interaction between Wind Stalker, Multistrike and fast movement
- Distinct upgrade path for Lightning Damage, Numbed and Shadows
- Thunder Spike as the main skill throughout whole progression
Cons
- Close-range attacks expose Erika to dangerous boss mechanics
- Early defensive layers are modest for such an aggressive character

1. Wind Stalker Hero Traits and Memories
Wind Stalker starts Erika with +26% Movement Speed. Travelling generates Stalker stacks, and an active Stalker buff preserves her Multistrike Count between attacks. You can dash through a pack, change position and pick up the sequence where you left off. That freedom is central to how this character moves through maps.

| Level | Our Choice | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Wind Stalker | Movement generates Stalker, and Stalker protects the Multistrike sequence. |
| 45 | Interest | Converts a portion of Movement Speed increases and decreases into additional Attack Damage. This version supplies Multistrike through its regular support gem. |
| 60 | Cat's Scratch | Strengthens Multistrike damage after reaching the maximum count, rewarding an uninterrupted attack sequence. |
| 75 | Cat's Punches | Adds starting Multistrike Count through accumulated Stalker, accelerating repeated attacks in prolonged fights. |
We take Interest at level 45 for the Attack Damage gained from Movement Speed modifiers, then supply Multistrike through a regular support gem. Have Fun offers another appealing route with built-in Multistrike support and Attack Speed, leaving an extra support slot available. Interest suits our movement-heavy equipment plan, particularly after boots and Hero Memories contribute more speed. During early progression, Have Fun may feel stronger with modest gear.
2. Talents and Passive Tree
Our four trees are Goddess of Hunting, Bladerunner, Assassin and Ranger. The first rewards constant movement, Bladerunner turns dual wielding into a potent weapon setup, and Assassin develops the Lightning damage Erika deals to Numbed enemies. Ranger rounds out the build with critical-strike consistency. The screenshots show 24 points per tree, 96 in total. As more points become available, look for efficient damage and defensive nodes along the established paths.

| Talent Tree | Points Shown | Core Talents and Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Goddess of Hunting | 24 | Impermanence (12) changes the spread of physical hits; Rushed (24) adds damage after moving over 5 m recently. The supporting nodes provide useful movement and attack-related bonuses. |
| Bladerunner | 24 | Joined Force (24) incorporates 60% of off-hand weapon damage into the main-hand weapon's final damage. Develop dual-wield damage and Attack Speed around this choice. |
| Assassin | 24 | Conductive (24) changes the base Numbed effect to increase Lightning Damage taken. Lightning bonuses and a dependable ailment application support it. |
| Ranger | 24 | Fluke (24) grants Lucky Critical Strike. Critical Strike Rating and Critical Strike Damage complement the talent as equipment improves. |
Impermanence and Rushed - Damage in Motion
Impermanence shifts the physical hit range toward higher maximum values. Thunder Spike converts that Physical Damage into Lightning, allowing strong weapon rolls to carry through the conversion. The resulting hits vary more in size, with occasional heavy spikes of damage. Rushed supplies 30% additional damage after Erika travels more than 5 m recently. Circling an elite or stepping through a boss's telegraphed attack keeps the movement requirement easy to satisfy.
Joined Force and Dual Wielding
Joined Force makes the second weapon a substantial part of Erika's damage. Under this talent, 60% of the off-hand weapon's damage contributes to the main hand, and attacks use the main hand alone. Start with the strongest claw, sword or dagger you can afford for that slot. The off-hand becomes the next major upgrade as your budget grows, especially when its weapon damage rolls are exceptionally good.
Conductive and Numbed
Conductive changes Numbed's base effect to 11% additional Lightning Damage taken. Thunder Spike's Shadow Strike can help apply the ailment, and successive hits give Erika plenty of opportunities to refresh it. The benefit becomes particularly noticeable against enemies that survive several Multistrikes. Check Numbed uptime during boss fights; it tells you when an application upgrade will be more useful than another raw damage affix.
Fluke and Critical Strike Scaling
Fluke in the Ranger tree grants Lucky Critical Strike, making a respectable Critical Strike Rating more rewarding across Erika's many hits. Critical modifiers are especially useful once the main-hand weapon and Numbed setup are performing well. Attack Speed and survivability also deserve attention, particularly in fights where Erika has to stay close for several seconds.
3. Active Skills and Support Links
The endgame five-link centers on Thunder Spike: Numb (Magnificent) in support slot three and a Noble support in slot five. Tremble is our main choice, strengthening the Numbed and critical-strike package built around Conductive and Fluke. Rumbling Thunder offers a more mobile version of the attack, with its own approach to Movement Speed and burst damage. The ordinary campaign supports remain useful while you save for these upgrades.
[Main DPS] Thunder Spike
Thunder Spike is a melee lunge that converts all its Physical Damage to Lightning. The True Body can apply Numbed, and the Shadow Strikes extend Erika's reach around the original target. Frequent hits allow our critical and Numbed bonuses to build pressure through longer encounters.
Haunt increases Shadow Quantity, giving Thunder Spike more coverage. Electric Overload supports its Lightning critical hits, and Numb (Magnificent) lets Shadows apply an additional Numbed stack in an area. Multistrike handles the repeated attacks required by our Interest setup. Finally, Tremble (Noble) grants extra damage and a brief surge of Numbed Effect after a Thunder Spike critical strike. Together with Fluke, Conductive and Thunder Manipulator, these supports give the build a clear offensive focus.
Thunder Spike: Rumbling Thunder (Noble) is a lively fifth-slot alternative. It adds a forward charge and converts part of Movement Speed into additional Attack Speed, subject to its cap. True Body hits can also provide a temporary Lightning Damage bonus against the target. This version travels through packs quickly and changes Thunder Spike's skill tags by adding Mobility. That detail matters for Thunder Focus, whose triggered Thunderstrike needs a non-Mobility Attack.
Against bosses: try both Noble supports in a familiar encounter. Tremble shines with regular critical hits and strong Numbed uptime. Rumbling Thunder draws more of its power from Movement Speed and the True Body damage window; its charge also changes how Erika handles close-range mechanics.
[Mobility] Spiral Strike
Spiral Strike takes Erika across gaps and through dangerous attack patterns, helping her keep Rushed and Stalker active as she moves. In the Tremble setup, use it between Thunder Spike sequences to maintain a brisk pace. Rumbling Thunder adds movement to the main attack itself, leaving Spiral Strike available for wider repositioning.
[Boss Burst] Bull's Rage
Bull's Rage gives Erika a strong offensive window against tough rares, Travelers and high-Timemark bosses. Activate it as you move into range, preferably when the enemy has just finished a dangerous animation. The added aggression calls for dependable defenses, since a melee attacker often has to endure the next hit.
[Boss Debuff] Timid
Timid prepares a boss for a sustained Multistrike sequence. Refresh the curse during longer phases, especially when repositioning gives you a natural moment to cast it. On ordinary map packs, Thunder Spike and its Shadows usually handle the fight quickly enough on their own.
[Advanced Defense] Resurrection Warcry
Resurrection Warcry provides extra security when Erika dives into packed rooms. It weakens nearby enemies, restores Life over time and gains more damage reduction as additional targets are affected. Cast it on the approach to a dense group, then continue through the pack with Stalker active. The benefit is less pronounced in isolated boss fights.
[Recovery] Life Tonic
Life Tonic remains useful for the sudden damage spikes that accompany melee combat. Resurrection Warcry helps Erika sustain herself through crowded maps; the Tonic covers emergencies during a boss mechanic. Advanced defensive equipment may eventually open this slot for another utility skill.
4. Passive Skills and Auras
Fearless and Cruelty form the offensive aura package as Erika reaches advanced Timemarks. Their Precise versions add further power later in progression. Thunder Focus can occupy the smaller reservation slot in the Tremble version, where its triggered attack has a natural place in the rotation.
[Main Aura] Fearless / Precise: Fearless
Fearless improves Melee Skill Damage and Critical Strike Rating, both valuable for Thunder Spike. Its Precise version also provides Melee Attack Speed, helping Erika build Multistrike sequences more comfortably. Give this aura priority among the major 50% reservations.
[Second Damage Aura] Cruelty / Precise: Cruelty
Cruelty adds Attack Damage and builds Aura Effect through combat. Precise: Cruelty strengthens the bonus and extends the duration of the accumulated buff. Boss encounters give it time to build, especially when Erika can maintain pressure through successive attack windows.
[Optional Focus] Thunder Focus / Precise: Thunder Focus
Thunder Focus adds Lightning Damage for a relatively small reservation. Movement builds Focus, which the non-Mobility Thunder Spike in our Tremble setup can spend to trigger Thunderstrike. Precise: Thunder Focus offers a stronger Lightning bonus, and Thunder Focus: Quickstep (Magnificent) develops the triggered skill's damage after movement. Choose the upgrade that suits the part of the passive you use most.
With Rumbling Thunder equipped, Thunder Spike gains the Mobility tag. Thunder Focus consumes Focus through a non-Mobility Attack, so this version of Thunder Spike cannot trigger Thunderstrike by itself. The passive still offers its Lightning bonus, although most of its appeal for our setup comes from the triggered attack.
[Defensive Alternative] Elemental Resistance
Elemental Resistance gives Erika more room to survive heavy elemental hits in Timemark 8 and Profound. It usually takes Cruelty's place during difficult encounters, pairing with Fearless for a balance of melee damage and protection. This is particularly helpful while her chest armour and resistances are still being improved.
5. Leveling and Recommended Progression
Thunder Spike becomes a very different experience between the campaign and established Timemark 8 farming. The core attack remains familiar as new supports, stronger weapons and reliable Numbed application bring the rest of the setup together. Here's how those pieces can be introduced through progression.
Campaign to T6: Assemble the Base
Open the campaign with Thunder Slash and equip Thunder Spike at level 14. Add Haunt, Electric Overload, Steamroll, Multistrike and Added Physical Damage as the support slots become available. Early weapon damage and Haunt make the biggest difference to ordinary clearing. Thunder Focus and Fearless are comfortable starting reservations, with Spiral Strike helping Erika establish her movement rhythm.
Timemark 7: Bring the Numbed Setup Online
Develop Goddess of Hunting, Bladerunner, Assassin and Ranger toward Rushed, Joined Force, Conductive and Fluke. Two serviceable one-handed weapons establish the dual-wield setup, followed by enough Numbed application to benefit from Conductive. Thunder Manipulator gloves become an attractive purchase as those interactions mature. Raise resistances and recovery alongside damage for smoother Timemark runs.
Early T8: Replace the Campaign Supports
The first special support to look for is Thunder Spike: Numb (Magnificent) in slot three. Thunder Spike: Tremble (Noble) follows in slot five as critical-strike consistency improves. Check the Trade House before either purchase; a sizeable weapon upgrade or affordable aura improvement can sometimes make the next few maps noticeably easier. Resurrection Warcry and Timid add utility for tougher encounters.
Established T8: Invest in Auras, Weapons and Shadow Scaling
Build toward Precise: Fearless and Precise: Cruelty after securing enough Sealed Mana Compensation. A well-crafted Priceless main-hand weapon and a strong Joined Force off-hand provide the foundation for the next damage jump. From there, Shadow Quantity, Numbed Effect, critical stats and suitable Divinity modifiers offer plenty of room to grow. Broken Sun Ring is worth exploring when its Shadow Strike affix and Solar Ring effect complement the way you fight.
Profound and Deep Space: Refining the Build
At the highest Timemarks, Tremble and Conductive continue to reward reliable critical hits and high Numbed uptime. Rumbling Thunder opens a faster, charge-oriented playstyle, especially on characters with substantial Movement Speed. The stronger your damage becomes, the more valuable good recovery and mitigation feel during prolonged fights. Compare the two setups through repeatable boss kills and choose the one that handles your usual content smoothly.
6. Gear Setup and Stat Priorities
The weapon pair carries much of Thunder Spike's base damage. Physical weapon rolls feed into its Lightning conversion, and Joined Force gives the off-hand a direct contribution. Once that foundation is strong, Numbed and critical bonuses amplify Erika's pressure on bosses. The pieces below follow that progression, with room for defensive rares wherever your character needs them.
- Enough Elemental Resistance, Life/Energy Shield, Evasion and recovery to finish the selected Timemark reliably
- High main-hand weapon damage, with a strong off-hand contribution through Joined Force
- Attack Skill Levels, Melee/Lightning damage, Attack Speed and consistent Multistrike
- Shadow Quantity and relevant Shadow Strike damage for Thunder Spike
- Reliable Numbed stacks, Numbed Effect and damage against Numbed enemies
- Critical Strike Rating and Damage, especially when using Fluke and Tremble
- Movement Speed for Stalker and Interest, supported by adequate defenses
Recommended Equipment and Alternatives

Weapons - Strong Rares to Priceless Claw and Off-Hand
Thunder Spike works with one-handed swords, claws and daggers. Aim for a well-crafted Priceless main-hand claw with strong damage, Attack Speed, critical modifiers and relevant skill affixes. Shadow Strike bonuses are especially welcome on this build. Joined Force adds 60% of the off-hand's weapon damage to the main hand, making a high-damage second weapon an excellent later investment. Thunder Slash-focused Steep Strike affixes have a different role and can be passed over here.
Upgrade direction: improve main-hand weapon damage first. Once Joined Force is active, compare off-hand upgrades by their contribution to your combined damage.

Gloves - Thunder Manipulator / Crafted Rare
Thunder Manipulator gloves supply Evasion, additional Lightning Damage against Numbed enemies, extra Numbed stacks and temporary Numbed Effect after Lightning critical hits. Their stronger bonus becomes available at 10 Numbed stacks, giving Conductive and Tremble another valuable payoff. A crafted rare with sturdy defensive rolls can bridge the gap until the gloves are affordable and Numbed application is consistent.
Upgrade direction: strengthen Numbed uptime first, then improve critical consistency to benefit from the gloves' temporary bonuses.

Helmet - Thunder Jawbone / High-End Rare
Thunder Jawbone combines Lightning Damage, Numbed Duration and Numbed Effect. It complements the Conductive setup particularly well when fighting bosses. A high-quality rare helmet with defensive affixes or relevant skill levels becomes competitive as the rest of Erika's equipment improves.

Body Armour - Crafted Evasion / Life / Energy Shield Rare
The chest slot is an ideal place to build Evasion, Life or Energy Shield, supported by resistances and useful skill modifiers. The exact mix depends on Erika's defensive investment elsewhere. Stronger crafted armour can eventually contribute damage too, once her recovery and mitigation are established for Profound content.

Necklace - Frostbolt / Broken Sun Ring / Crafted Rare
Frostbolt offers Elemental Resistance Penetration against Numbed targets, making it a convenient early upgrade. Broken Sun Ring is a more specialized necklace with a possible Shadow Strike random affix. Its Solar Ring creates opportunities to exploit proximity-based effects and adds damage within its area. For characters still missing defenses, a rare necklace with good attributes, resistances or skill modifiers can serve just as well.
Late-game option: look for Broken Sun Ring with a useful Shadow Strike affix and a Solar Ring effect that suits your usual fighting distance.

Belt - Dawn Break / Defensive Rare
Dawn Break provides Fervor, fixed Fervor Rating and damage scaling tied to that rating. A strong Dexterity roll can make it especially valuable for an advanced Erika. Corroded versions open further possibilities, though the overall purchase is easiest to justify with other Fervor-related bonuses already in place. A defensive rare belt remains useful for Life, resistances and recovery.

Rings - Crafted Lightning / Critical / Dexterity Rares
Rings are convenient places to fill resistances and improve survivability during Timemark progression. Later, Dexterity, Attack Speed, critical stats and Lightning or Numbed modifiers become attractive offensive additions. Good rare rings can do a surprising amount of work by freeing other equipment slots for more specialized pieces.

Boots - High-Movement Crafted Rares
Movement Speed makes farming faster and improves Attack Damage through Interest. Look for a strong movement roll alongside Life, Energy Shield or resistances. The Rumbling Thunder alternative draws even more Attack Speed from movement bonuses, so boots can become an especially rewarding upgrade in that version.
7. Hero Memories, Divinity Slates and Pactspirits
With the core equipment in place, the next upgrades often come from Hero Memories, Divinity Slates and Pactspirits. Focus on bonuses that develop Wind Stalker, Multistrike, Shadow Strikes and Numbed, then fill the defensive gaps left by your chosen armour. Ranger and Fluke make critical modifiers particularly useful in this stage of progression.
Raise the levels of the Interest / Cat's Scratch / Cat's Punches trait route where possible. Movement Speed, critical bonuses and applicable Attack Damage suit this setup well. Good purple Memories can carry Erika into advanced maps as you gather the currency for rarer pieces.
Useful Slate modifiers include Numbed Effect, Shadow Quantity, Attack Speed after movement or critical hits, Dexterity and survivability. The strongest choices tend to support several parts of Erika's attack at once. Check the attack and Shadow tags of any costly modifier before trading for it.
Early Pactspirits can cover damage or survivability as the weapons improve. At higher budgets, look for companion bonuses to Dexterity, attack-related damage and defenses. The value of an optimized pet page depends on how well those bonuses match your final equipment.
Tartarus Followers can contribute buffs, debuffs and extra defensive utility. Their support combinations vary, so inspect the effects available on your own Follower. Consistent ailment application is especially useful against bosses, where every increase in Numbed uptime has time to pay off.
Prisms and Advanced Divinity Investment
Ethereal Prism: Phantasmagoria can amplify carefully chosen Prism affixes, and Inverse Image brings another layer of customization. Bladerunner bonuses to dual wielding, relevant Multistrike modifiers and compatible Shadow or Lightning scaling are worth investigating. The placement and surrounding affixes determine how much value these items provide, so plan the combination before investing heavily.
One expensive avenue pairs Dawn Break with Fervor scaling, additional Dexterity and refined weapon crafts. It suits players who have already established a solid defensive setup and want to specialize further. The price can grow quickly once Prisms and premium affixes enter the picture; work out the complete equipment plan before committing to those purchases.
Final Thoughts
Thunder Spike Erika 1 comes together through movement, quick Multistrikes and steady Lightning pressure. A powerful main hand and Joined Force off-hand drive the attack, Shadows spread it across packs, and Conductive adds bite against Numbed bosses. Those same interactions carry the character from early Netherrealm maps into a demanding endgame setup.
There is plenty to enjoy in how easily Erika flows between fights. With stronger support gems, better weapons and dependable recovery, that speed remains useful long after the campaign is over.
