The Magnetic Salvo is one of the strongest Skills usable with Bows. It releases up to 17 missiles that automatically target and detonate any lingering arrows to create massive explosions that can overlap and deal a tremendous amount of Damage. To create lingering arrows you will have to use the Lightning Rod Skill. By default, it shoots only one Arrow, but with the Deadeye Ascendency, Scattershot Support, and potentially Implicit modifier on your Bow it will create up to 5 lingering arrows at once. For the best DPS output and Mana preservation against Bosses, you should prepare 15 lingering arrows and detonate them all at once with a single use of Magnetic Salvo. Most regular Enemies will die from a single use of Lightning Rod and Magnetic Salvo.
To further boost your Damage you can include a Freezing Salvo setup. It releases a volley of 12 Arrows that quickly build up Freeze. Freezing Enemies gives you the opportunity to safely burst down your opponent, but also adds a bit of extra Damage for the Magnetic Salvo via the Ice Bite Support.
The Deadeye is the best choice for this Build as it offers one additional Arrow for every Skill you use. It makes stacking Lightning Rod arrows significantly quicker. The Tailwind Buff is also extremely useful as it improves your Speed, although maintaining it at all times can be a bit challenging.

Use Lightning Rod to create multiple lingering arrows and explode them using the Magnetic Salvo. Use Freezing Salvo when possible to Freeze Bosses. Use Spirit for Herald of Ice and Herald of Thunder for extra Damage and on-kill effects, or Wind Dancer for defense.

PROS |
|
CONS |
|
The Magnetic Salvo requires quite a high level to unlock, but you will have many useful Skills at your disposal to progress through the campaign. We recommend starting with the Lightning Arrow and Lightning Rod combo. The Stormcaller Arrow will help with Bosses. Around Act 2 you can start using the Gas Arrow which will carry you all the way through the campaign until you unlock Magnetic Salvo. The Poison is not very impactful - use Flamewall to quickly detonate poisonous clouds, which is the main Damage of this Skill.
[DPS] Lightning Arrow setup
Lightning Arrow - fires a Projectile that Hits enemies and releases 2 Chaining Beams.
Martial Tempo - increases your Attack Speed.
Pierce - the Arrow will pierce an Enemy, releasing the Chaining Beams on both Hits. |
[DPS] Lightning Rod setup
Lightning Rod - fires Projectiles that fall on the ground, linger for a duration, and release a small AoE every time a Chaining Beam Chains to it.
Magnified Effect - increases the AoE of your explosions, increasing the likelihood of hitting multiple times.
Innervate - grant you extra Damage for 3 seconds on kill. |
[DPS] Stormcaller Arrow setup
Stormcaller Arrow - fires an Arrow that sticks to the target and explodes after a short duration to deal high amount of Damage.
Concentrated Effect - lowers the AoE but increases the Damage.
Lightning Infusion - adds Extra Lightning Damage but lowers other Damage types. |
[DPS] Gas Arrow setup | |
Gas Arrow - fires a projectile that creates stacking poisonous cloud on the ground. The cloud explodes upon contact with the Ignited Enemy, dealing Fire Damage in a large Area.
Scattershot - adds two Projectiles so you will create more overlapping clouds with each shot.
Concentrated Effect - lowers the AoE but increases the Damage.
Fire Infusion - adds Extra Fire Damage but lowers other Damage types. |
[Utility] Flame Wall setup
Flame Wall - inflict small Ignite to all Enemies inside of the Wall, which is enough to trigger the Gass Arrow's explosion.
Arcane Tempo - increases your Cast Speed significantly.
Persistence - increases the Duration of your Flame Wall so you have to recast it less often. |

[UTILITY] Utility setup
Escape Shot - leaps back and fires a Cold arrow that explodes upon impact. Use it to escape from enemies.
Voltaic Mark - your next Shock on Marked Enemy will have an increased Effect and release a Lightning Nova that deals Damage to nearby Enemies. |
|
The majority of your Damage is sourced from your Bow, Quiver, and Gloves. The rest of your Gear should be focused on getting as much maximum Life as possible, capping Elemental and Chaos Resistance, and fulfilling necessary Attribute Requirements. You will also need Movement Speed on your Boots. If you have fulfilled those defensive requirements you can also include maximum Mana to help with sustain. Ideally, you should use Evasion Bases.
Stat priorities on items:
|
(Gloves) Kitoko's Current - this pair of Gloves allows you to cause Electrocution with all your Attacks. It provides an immensely defensive boost at the small cost of Attack Speed.
(30–50)% increased Energy Shield +(10–20) to Dexterity (10–15)% reduced Attack and Cast Speed Lightning damage from Hits Contributes to Electrocution Buildup |
|
(Weapon) Rare Weapon - look for a Bow with the highest DPS possible. It can be Physical or Elemental Damage. High Attack Speed and Critical Strike Chance are also important. Ideally, use a Bow with Extra Arrow in the Implicit.
Min. requirements: 300+ DPS 1.3 Attack Speed 7% Critical Strike Chance Optional affixes: Bow Attacks fire an additional Arrow |
|
(Quiver) Rare Quiver - it can also provide plenty of Damag, but to a lesser extent. Look for added Damage to Attacks, Attack Speed, and Critical Strikes.
Min. requirements: +70 to maximum Life +15% increased Attack Speed Optional affixes: Adds # to # Damage to Attacks Elemental Resistance +# to Critical Strike Chance +#% increased Critical Strike Bonus |
|
(Gloves) Rare Gloves - you can also use Rare Gloves with bonus Attack Speed and maximum Life. Other than that look for Elemental Resistance and Attributes.
Min. requirements: +70 to maximum Life +15% increased Attack Speed Optional affixes: Elemental Resistance +#% increased Critical Strike Chance |
|
