Acolyte of Chayula Ascendancy is usually not a first pick for a Minion build, but it has the big advantage of boosting allies with Purple Flames via Into the Breach and Selfless Remnants Support. These Purple Flames grant 7% of damage as extra Chaos damage for 8 seconds, and stack up to 10 times. An Infernalist or Shaman has access to more Spirit, allowing them to summon more Minions, so to level the playing field, this build uses fewer and more powerful ones. Employing Minions to inflict a non-stackable DoT effect that scales up with Hit damage (or with Maximum Life), like Ignite, makes the most sense in this context. Now, the abundance of extra Chaos Damage will affect the Ignite DoT with Xoph's Pyre (which is an expensive Gem that can be omitted if the captured beast has the "all Damage can Ignite" mod). To extract more Ignite Damage, we'll wield Saitha's Spear to Aggravate it. The Spear/Sceptre setup can be used only for this one purpose, while keeping a Sceptre/Shield for everything else. One could choose Skeletons for Minions, but none of them deal quite good enough single-hit damage. We recommend Spectres or Companions. This guide focuses on Companions as they often posses modifiers to make them especially powerful. After allocating Trusted Kinship, you'll be able to have two Companions at a time, maybe swapping between them alongside weapon sets, or for boss fights. The modifiers on a beast matter a lot, so try to find ones that make it more mobile.
Another, arguably more important feature of this build, is using Infernal Legion or Catha's Brilliance combined with Wildfire to have a reasonable clear speed. The Companion now spreads Ignite whenever it goes, which is why the ever-fast-moving Plague Harvester is so valued in this position. This type of Burning damage scales up with Minions' Maximum Life.
Acolyte of Chayula, besides the purple flames, should go for Chayula's Gift for tons of extra Chaos Resistance and Maximum Chaos Resistance, and Grasp of the Void because there's nothing better there. It increases damage slightly. The durability stems from high Chaos Resistance, Block Chance from the Shield, and Mind over Matter plus Eldritch Battery: the build uses almost no active skills, experiencing no Mana drain. It's even better with Mana Remnants. All that makes it great against Hits and DoT, but it can struggle with Physical Damage as it has very low Armour.

1. Gameplay
The Minions should be set up in such a way that they do everything on their own: there are fast ones that deal with enemies scattered throughout the screen, and powerful ones that deal the bulk of the damage. The character has to stay in their presence to maximize damage or run around collecting Remnants. Entangle and Enfeeble are to be used against bosses, if not automated. Twisters are released on Dodge Roll with Mirage Archer; this Skill requires a Spear.

3. Leveling tips
The build takes shape only after allocating Waking Dream and linking your Into the Breach with Selfless Remnants. Shortly after, in Act III, you will generate only Purple Flames. That means lots of Chaos Damage, but it won't translate into Ignite without Minions abundant with Maximum Life, which comes from Items and Passive Skills, and Xoph's Pyre, which has a high level requirement and is expensive. You also need to find specific Companions with good modifiers, and that will take time or cost a lot. Start with regular Minions. Skeletal Sniper in Act I. Then, add more Skeletons, while keeping the Skeletal Sniper as your main source of damage: it has a strong Gas Cloud Command ability that we plan to bolster with Muster, Bidding, and Feeding Frenzy. We can add Flame Wall for extra Fire Damage and Frost Bomb to apply Exposure. Elemental Weakness, Pain Offering, and Wolf Pack linked with Infernal Legion. On the Skill Tree, start with Minion Damage nodes, but be ready to allocate Remnant nodes in Act III, as these will become important by then. To transition into the proper variant of this build, we recommend a character level 80 or higher: it has to have 300 Spirit and proper gear with Beasts already captured. Items that will help you during leveling are Enfolding Dawn and Beacon of Azis.

6. Gear Setup
The build needs around 300 Spirit: 90 is for Mana Remnants with Mirage Archer; Companions Reserve around 40% of max Spirit each, but these numbers get all jumbled up after allocating passives like Trusted Kinship and getting Reservation Efficiency. You should not need any extra Spirit except for the one from Alpha's Howl and Sceptre. You will deal almost no damage yourself, except for some inconsequential Physical Damage to inflict Bleeding. The type of damage your Minions deal is mostly flat Physical and Chaos to inflict Fire Damage over Time, or Burning Damage. Also, Ignite Damage scaling with their Maximum Life. This Burning Damage is the main damage type enemies are receiving. The best way to increase DPS is to lower Enemies' Fire Resistance with skills or Items, or to increase your own Minions' Max Life to benefit from Infernal Legion. To boost durability, look for Maximum Life, Maximum Energy Shield, and Maximum Mana. Mana Regeneration is good, but has a marginal effect on recovery.

Stat priorities on items:
(Helmet) Alpha's Howl - It's difficult to get enough Spirit for all the Minions without this Helmet. Socket a Primate Idol in it to increase their Maximum Life. |
| (80-100)% increased Evasion Rating +100 to Spirit +(50-75)% to Cold Resistance Presence Radius is doubled |
(Weapon) Saitha's Spear - It will be used to launch Twisters with Mirage Archer. It Aggravates Ignite alongside Bleed, so aim for a 40% chance on that roll. You can swap back to Shield after deploying the Mirage. |
| Grants Skill: Spear Throw Bleeding you inflict deals Damage (10-20)% faster Adds (14-26) to (27-32) Physical Damage Adds (33-41) to (47-53) Fire Damage (15-25)% chance to cause Bleeding on Hit Aggravating any Bleeding with this Weapon also Aggravates all Ignites on the target (25-40)% chance to Aggravate Bleeding on Hit |

(Weapon) Rare Sceptre - Two Sceptres will be needed for both weapon sets, so swapping between them may disrupt your Buffs or Minions. Both Sceptres should improve Minions' Damage, Minion Skills Level, and their Maximum Life. Use one with Purity of Fire to mitigate Infernal Legion's damage. |

(Weapon) Rare Talisman - If you want to use Oil Barrage to spread Oil Ground and improve your clear speed, you have to use a Fang Talisman and a Sceptre, possible by allocating Lord of the Wilds, but that introduces a new set of problems, so we didn't use it. We deemed Wildfire good enough. |
| Min. requirements: Companions deal increased Damage Optional affixes: Attributes Increased Attack Speed |
(Gloves) Rare Gloves - On Gloves, we're looking for Life, Mana, and ES on Prefixes, with Resistances and Attributes on Suffixes. |
