There are many interesting and unique special Bolts you can use with the Crossbows, but undoubtedly the High Velocity Rounds is one of the best and most impactful ones. With this Skill, you will shoot a very powerful Projectile that deals a very high amount of Damage to enemies it Hits and can Pierce up to 6 targets by default. Furthermore, it can consume the Fully Broken Armour on Enemies to deal 150% More Damage for a massive payoff. 

To Break the Armour of your opponents you should use the Armour Piercing Rounds that cause you to rapidly shoot a barrage of Projectiles that deal a moderate amount of Damage and slightly knock back Enemies. You will probably want to use Fork or Pierce Support Gems to break the Armour of entire packs of Enemies at once. The Vulnerability is also a very useful Curse for this Setup, as it lowers the Armour of affected Enemies, making it easier to Fully Break it. 

The Witchhunter Ascendency is greatly suited to fight powerful Bosses. You will break their Concentration, which causes them to use their abilities less often. You will also deal significantly More Damage against such foes. Furthermore, you can use extra Weapon Set Points to specialize further into Breaking the Armour faster and consume it with a stronger Weapon.

Use Armour Piercing Rounds to Break enemy Armour, then switch to the High Velocity Rounds to take down weakened Enemies. Remember to keep up the Vulnerability Curse on stronger Enemies to Break the Armour faster.

This Setup is primarily based on Physical Damage. A good Crossbow with high Physical DPS will allow you to Break Armour faster and will make better use of the lack of this defensive layer on your Enemies. You will also need Attack Speed and Critical Strikes. For defense, you should focus on maximum Life and capping Elemental Resistance. Both Armour and Evasion Rating can be quite easily acquired to provide decent mitigation against Attacks.
