Introduction
Normally, Glaivier uses two Stances that have different Skill Sets associated with them. These Stances are called Focus and Flurry. In Focus Stance, She uses a spear to unleash a hailstorm of swift blows on her enemies. In Flurry Stance, She turns into a graceful war-dancer and performs wide sweeping attacks with her glaive that can easily strike multiple foes at once.
Control Engraving changes the above-mentioned flow of combat rather drastically by preventing Glaivier from entering the Focus Stance. Instead, it offers a hefty bonus to Flurry Skill Damage (up to +36% at Level 3). As a result, the following build uses a simple rotation that is much easier to master than the one used by Pinnacle Glaivier. Moreover, thanks to the lack of stance-dancing, Control Glaivier can use her Identity Gauge to augment Flurry Skills via the Final Decision Tripod that drains Dual Meter in exchange for bonus Damage. Because of the lowered usable skill count, the build necessitates stacking Swiftness to reduce Cooldowns and prevent downtime. As for the drawbacks; Control Glaivier is not as mobile as the build based on the Pinnacle Engraving and She can't use Dragonscale Defense which lowers Her defensive capabilities a little.

Pros | Cons |
Simple Rotation without Stance switching | Requires high Swiftness which results in Crit Rate problems |
Low Cooldowns on Skills thanks to high Swiftness | Has to use specific Gearsets and Engravings to make up for the lacking Crit Rate |
Good Stagger | Locked out from Identity Buffs (normally received after changing Stances) |
Identity Gauge is used as a resource for increasing DPS | Relies on Back Attacks |

Stat Priority
As mentioned in the intro, Control Glaivier has access to a limited number of skills as she can't enter the Focus Stance. Because of this, stacking Swiftness is the way to go. However, getting some Crit can also be argued for as going full Swiftness creates some problems (mainly, the necessity to pick up Crit-based Engravings and Gearsets). The two viable Stat Builds for the build are:
Skills
FLURRY STANCE | |
CHAIN SLASH |
Glaivier strikes upward with her spear to inflict moderate amounts of damage and launch enemies into the air. Then, she slashes with her spear while advancing 3 meters forward, inflicting another hit. Afterward, she slashes 2 more times in the opposite direction, inflicting even more damage. Airborne enemies are launched in the air again when hit. This is a very powerful Skill with a considerable range, thanks to the Brilliant Spear Tripod. With it, you'll be able to strike your target from a relatively safe distance. It can be augmented with the Final Decision Tripod which makes it much stronger.

HALF MOON SLASH |
Glaivier drags her spear across the ground while moving forward, dealing 2 damaging hits, followed by a powerful diagonal upward slash that deals high amounts of damage. Hit enemies are launched in the air. This is one of your main Stagger Damage dealers and the skill you should attach Conviction to (as it deals multiple Hits which increases the chance that the Rune triggers). It can be augmented with the Final Decision Tripod for greatly increased Damage.
Level 12
FLASH KICK |
Glaivier uses her spear to as a lever to advance 7 meters forward, dealing damage three times. The initial attack is followed by a strong kick that deals moderate amounts of Damage. This is a solid mobility skill that can be used as a gap closer, however, unlike other mobility skills, it actually deals decent damage when the appropriate Tripods are chosen. It's quick to use and can be utilized to easily avoid attacks, but it has a drawback - when optimized for damage, it burns your Identity Gauge.

Level 12
RAGING DRAGON SLASH |
Glaivier enlarges her spear and spins 360 degrees to inflict high amounts of damage, knocking enemies back. This is a powerful offensive skill that offers very solid Stagger Damage. Thanks to the Quick Slash it's very dynamic and can be used with minimal risk. It's one of your main damage dealers with this build.
Level 12
WHEEL OF BLADES |
Glaivier spins sideways, inflicting 3 damaging hits, followed by a finishing blow that deals moderate amounts of damage. Airborne enemies hit by the spinning attack are launched in the air again, and then get slammed to the ground with the last blow. This is a solid Stagger Damage dealer and a great candidate for the Judgement Rune as it dels multiple hits, it can be used 2 times in a row (thanks to a Tripod), and it has a relatively short base Cooldown of 14 seconds.
Level 12
WINDSPLITTER |
Glaivier strikes with her spear in multiple directions, inflicting moderate amounts of damage and pulling enemies close. This is mostly a filler skill with some grouping utility (it helps group up trash for faster clearing). You will be using it mostly when your more powerful Skills are on Cooldown, which means that you can replace it with another Skill of your choice.
Level 12
SHACKLING BLUE DRAGON |
Glaivier spins her spear where she stands and strikes down with force, creating a shockwave that deals high amounts of damage. Enemies hit by this Skill lose 8% if their Crit Resistance for 6 seconds. This is your team synergy skill that will let you reduce the enemy's Crit Resistance by 18% for 6 seconds. Sadly, it has a rather low uptime because of the long base Cooldown of 24 seconds.
Level 10
VAULT |
Glaivier sticks her spear in the ground and performs a somersault, dealing moderate amounts of damage and launching enemies into the air. This is the only skill in Glaiviers arsenal that has the Counter property and it's a must-have because of it. You will be using it mainly to Counter Attack bosses.
Level 4
AWAKENING | |
SPEAR METEOR |
Glaivier performs an attach at the target location. She leaps 4 meters backward while facing forward, focusing energy onto her spear, and throws it at the target area. The spear strikes the ground to inflict high amounts of damage and then causes an explosion that inflicts multiple devastating hits to every enemy in range, knocking them back with the last hit. This is a safe Awakening option as it has a rather long-range and relatively short start-up. Alternatively, you can use Storming Red Dragon, which is better for more static engagements (it deals Damage instantly, but has a long channeling time which forces you to stand still during its use).

Rotation/Skill Usage
Control Glaivier follows a simple Skill Rotation that becomes more and more spammy as you increase your Swiftness levels.
Your Standard Skill Rotation/Priority List looks as follows:
Recommended Engravings
This is the core Engraving of this build and everything else is built around it. With it, your Flurry Skill Damage will get a significant boost but you won't be able to use any Focus Skills. You should have this at Level 3 eventually. |
As a Control Glaivier, you want to attack your target from the back anyway, so this Engraving is a natural fit. It will encourage you to pay more attention to your positioning as missing Back Attacks, while you have it, active will make you lose even more potential DPS than otherwise. |
A very powerful, but risky-to-use Engraving that offers a considerable offensive boost at the cost of increased damage taken. If you can live with the downside, it will serve you as an unconditional damage increase. Keep in mind that it's only worth using at Level 3, so never use it at level 2 and especially 1 (unless you want to take 5% more damage for every 1% increase in your own DPS). |
This Engraving is great because you are stacking Swiftness that increases your Movement Speed. If you're on a very tight budget (you're making this Character as an Alt, for example), you can pair this with Spirit Absorption. |
This Engraving can boost your offensive power rather significantly, but the tradeoff is painful. Only pick it if you know encounter mechanics very well, or if you trust in your ability to avoid incoming damage. Also, using this at Levels 1 and 2 is not worth the risks involved (so, use it at Level 3 or don't use it at all). |
This build really needs some additional Crit Rate and Adrenaline can provide plenty of it (it also provides some Attack Power, which is always welcome). Luckily, Control Glaivier relies on high Swiftness, so stacking and maintaining this Engraving's effect is quite trivial. |
The more Crit Rate you have, the more powerful this Engraving becomes. For this build, it's a decent enough choice but its effectiveness will largely depend on your other active Engravings (Adrenaline) and your ability to perform Back Attacks consistently (as they have a +10% Crit Rate bonus). |
Gear Sets, Gems, Cards, etc.
