Best Arcana for Every Class
AION 2

Last Update: October 14, 2026

Introduction

Arcana become one of the most important progression systems in AION 2 as soon as you reach level 45. Five cards can add hundreds of Item Levels, permanent Empyrean Lord stats, set bonuses, and extra levels to the exact skills your build uses. A good Arcana setup can therefore improve your damage or survivability in ways that a simple Item Level comparison does not show.

The difficult part is deciding what is actually worth keeping. Every slot exists in a Vigor and Magic version, every card rolls skill effects from a different pool, and Transmutation lets you spend Mysterious Crystals to target a specific set, slot, and even selected skill effects. A poorly planned craft can cost millions of Kina for a card you replace a few days later.

The current Global shortcut: fill all five slots first, build toward a 4-piece set, reach Transcendence Stage 3 for your first Unique cards, and save serious Transmutation spending for the slots where RNG hurts most - especially the Unique Chalice.

The slot decides which class skills a card can roll. The Vigor or Magic family decides its main Empyrean Lord stat and set bonus. Grade then determines Item Level, the number of skill levels, and the maximum Enhancement level.

For the broader route into Transcendence, check our AION 2 Dungeon Progression Guide. This article focuses specifically on which Arcana are worth chasing once you are inside that system.

Arcana Basics at a Glance

Slot Vigor Main Stat Magic Main Stat Skill Pool
Chalice Time [Siel] - Combat Speed, Double Resist Space [Israphel] - Move Speed, Block Chance Any of your 22 regular skills
Parchment Life [Yustiel] - HP, Regeneration Chance Destiny [Marchutan] - MP, Endurance Chance 6 active skills
Compass Freedom [Vaizel] - Accuracy, Evasion Death [Triniel] - Critical Hit, Regeneration Penetration The other 6 active skills
Bell Justice [Nezekan] - Defense, Perfect Chance Destruction [Zikel] - Attack, Perfect Resist 5 passive skills
Mirror Illusion [Kaisinel] - Cooldown Reduction, Endurance Penetration Wisdom [Lumiel] - MP Cost Reduction, Double Chance The other 5 passive skills
Stigma skills do not roll on Arcana. When you evaluate skill effects, compare the card with the regular active and passive skills you actually use, not your Stigma loadout.
Grade Main Stat Skill Levels Base Item Level Max Enhance
Common 8 1 20 +2
Rare 12 2 40 +3
Epic 16 3 60 +4
Unique 20 4 80 +5

A Unique Arcana reaches 85 Item Level at +5. Five fully enhanced Unique cards can therefore contribute 425 Item Levels before you even consider the skill effects and set bonus. This is why Arcana become such an important bridge between the 2200, 2500, and later progression thresholds.

Primal Vigor vs Magic Armor

AION 2 Primal Vigor and Magic Armor Arcana

Do Not Read "Magic" as a Caster Set

Primal VigorMagic Armor4-Piece Meta

The names are misleading. Bell of Magic gives raw Attack, while Compass of Magic gives Critical Hit. Vigor contains Combat Speed, HP, Accuracy, Defense, and Cooldown Reduction. Pick the set bonus and the actual main stats, not the label.

Primal Vigor - 2 Pieces +60 PvE Attack while your HP is at least 70%.
Primal Vigor - 4 Pieces +150 PvE Attack while your HP is at least 70%.
Magic Armor - 2 Pieces Restores 1,500 MP when MP falls to 20% or lower. 30-second cooldown.
Magic Armor - 4 Pieces +1,000 PvE Defense while MP is at least 50%.

For current PvE damage builds, four Vigor cards plus one strong Magic off-piece is the default. The most common off-piece is Bell of Magic because Destruction [Zikel] adds Attack. Defensive Templar setups and characters with severe MP problems have legitimate reasons to use more Magic cards, but Global high-end characters are currently much more Vigor-heavy than older theorycraft suggested.

Set bonus versus grade: while progressing, don't equip a weak Common card to protect a 4-piece bonus if a Unique card gives you a huge Item Level and skill upgrade. Finish the ideal set once your card grades start stabilizing.

What the Current Global Meta Is Actually Wearing

The strongest tracked Global characters show one extremely clear trend: Chalice of Vigor is the most common Arcana for every class. Depending on class, roughly 70-88% of the current top 100 are using it. Combat Speed is valuable, it counts toward Primal Vigor, and the Chalice can roll any regular skill in your kit.

Class Most Common Arcana Second Most Common What It Suggests
Gladiator Chalice of Vigor - 88% Bell of Magic - 62% 4 Vigor + Attack off-piece fits the damage meta.
Templar Chalice of Vigor - 84% Parchment of Vigor - 42% Even tanks are leaning toward the Vigor core.
Assassin Chalice of Vigor - 84% Parchment of Vigor - 51% Combat Speed and HP support aggressive melee uptime.
Ranger Chalice of Vigor - 86% Bell of Magic - 60% One of the cleanest 4 Vigor + Bell Magic classes.
Sorcerer Chalice of Vigor - 70% Mirror of Vigor - 43% Cooldown Reduction makes Mirror unusually important.
Spiritmaster Chalice of Vigor - 80% Bell of Magic - 38% Attack scales both caster and spirit damage.
Cleric Chalice of Vigor - 86% Bell of Magic - 49% Attack remains valuable even on the main healer.
Chanter Chalice of Vigor - 88% Bell of Magic - 51% The hybrid support meta still values personal damage.
Popularity is not automatic Best-in-Slot. High Combat Power rankings favor developed accounts and may mix PvE, PvP, and progression goals. Use the table as evidence of the current Global direction, then adjust for your role and the skill effects on the actual cards you own.

Best Arcana for Every Class

The recommendations below are for general endgame PvE. The default damage setup is four Vigor cards plus Bell of Magic. The most important part, however, is the skill roll: a slightly less attractive main stat can still win if it adds several levels to a skill that drives your rotation.

Gladiator

4 VIGORBELL OF MAGIC

Recommended: Chalice, Parchment, Compass, and Mirror of Vigor with Bell of Magic.

Best skill targets: Ruinous Blow, Rending Blow, Keen Strike, Leaping Slam, Rush Strike.

Transmute focus: Ruinous Blow + Rending Blow on the Chalice gives two high-value skills from different active pools in one card.

Templar

VIGOR METAMAGIC DEFENSIVE OPTION

Recommended: keep a Vigor core for general PvE and threat. Parchment of Vigor and Bell of Vigor are particularly attractive when survival matters.

Best skill targets: Punishment, Warding Strike, Vicious Strike, Shield Rush, Poach.

Defensive variant: 4 Magic + Bell of Vigor is the pure mitigation setup when incoming damage is the actual bottleneck.

Assassin

4 VIGORBELL OF MAGIC

Recommended: four Vigor cards with Bell of Magic. Combat Speed, HP, Accuracy, and cooldown support all fit the class naturally.

Best skill targets: Heart Gore, Insignia Explosion, Shadowstrike, Quick Slice, Flash Slice.

Transmute focus: Heart Gore + Insignia Explosion is an excellent targeted pair for the burst rotation.

Ranger

4 VIGORBELL OF MAGIC

Recommended: the cleanest Primal Vigor user. Ranged uptime makes the 70% HP condition easier to maintain than it is for most melee classes.

Best skill targets: Gale Arrow, Deadshot, Snipe, Tempest Shot, Marking Shot.

Transmute focus: Gale Arrow + Deadshot is the premium active-skill pair; both sit in the Compass pool if you later target that slot directly.

Sorcerer

4 VIGORKEEP MIRROR OF VIGOR

Recommended: four Vigor cards with Bell of Magic. Do not casually replace Mirror of Vigor - Illusion [Kaisinel] gives valuable Cooldown Reduction.

Best skill targets: Hellfire, Firestorm, Blaze, Flame Arrow, Bittercold Wind.

Transmute focus: Hellfire + Firestorm is the strongest straightforward Chalice target for the current fire-oriented PvE build.

Spiritmaster

4 VIGORBELL OF MAGIC

Recommended: four Vigor plus Bell of Magic. Raw Attack benefits your own attacks, Curse damage, and spirit-driven damage.

Best skill targets: Elemental Fusion, Jointstrike: Curse, Summon: Fire Spirit, Dimensional Control, Cold Shock.

Transmute focus: Elemental Fusion + Jointstrike: Curse gives the Chalice two central pieces of the PvE loop.

Deus Research Base Arcana
Cleric

4 VIGOR DEFAULTMAGIC FOR MP PRESSURE

Recommended: the current high-end trend still favors a Vigor core with Bell of Magic. Attack supports both damage and healing scaling.

Best healer targets: Healing Light, Light of Regeneration, Radiant Recovery, Warm Benediction, Healing Enhancement.

Transmute focus: Healing Light + Light of Regeneration for group PvE. Solo-focused Clerics can instead target Earth's Retribution and Judgment Thunder.

Chanter

4 VIGORBELL OF MAGIC

Recommended: four Vigor plus Bell of Magic suits the melee support identity: more PvE Attack, more personal damage, and strong utility from the Vigor main stats.

Best skill targets: Spinning Strike, Onslaught, Rushing Smash, Incandescent Blow, Recuperation.

Transmute focus: Spinning Strike + Recuperation is a balanced damage/support Chalice pair. Pure damage setups can use Onslaught instead.

Do not chase a skill because it appears in a generic build list. Arcana levels are most valuable when they push a skill you actually use toward an important specialization threshold. Check your current Skill, Daevanion, and Arcana levels together before spending Mysterious Crystals.

Where to Farm Each Arcana Slot

Deus Research Base

ChaliceCompassBell

Farm Deus when your offensive active slot or Bell is behind. It is especially attractive for damage builds that still need a good Bell of Magic.

Shattered Arkanis

ChaliceParchmentMirror

Farm Arkanis when Parchment or Mirror carries your most important skills. Sorcerer in particular values a strong Mirror of Vigor for Cooldown Reduction.

Stage Item Level Compass/Bell or Parchment/Mirror Chalice
1 1600 Up to Rare Up to Common
2 1900 Up to Epic Up to Rare
3 2200 Unique Up to Epic
4 2500 Unique Unique
The important breakpoint is 2200. Stage 3 can already give Unique Bell, Compass, Parchment, and Mirror cards. The Unique Chalice remains one tier behind and only enters the Stage 4 loot pool at 2500.

Arcana Transmutation - What Should You Craft First?

AION 2 Arcana Transmutation

Transmutation Is for Solving Bad RNG

Mysterious CrystalsUnique ArcanaTargeted Skills

Transmutation creates a Unique Arcana of the slot and set you choose. You can then spend extra crystals and Kina to guarantee up to two selected skill effects. This makes it far more valuable than simply gambling on another random duplicate.

Transmute Mysterious Crystals Kina Best Use
Base Unique 5 2,000,000 Fill a missing Unique slot or gain Item Level quickly.
+ 1 Fixed Skill Effect 15 total 5,000,000 Target one build-defining skill without paying full BiS cost.
+ 2 Fixed Skill Effects 25 total 8,000,000 Endgame craft for a card you expect to keep.
1
First Priority - Unique Chalice
The Chalice is the hardest natural Unique drop because it only appears at Stage 4. It also has the widest skill pool: all 22 regular skills. That makes a targeted Chalice the best place to turn Transmutation from "random upgrade" into a real build piece.
2
Second Priority - Your Missing Set Piece
If the correct Bell, Compass, Parchment, or Mirror refuses to drop and is blocking your 4-piece setup, a cheap 5-Crystal Transmute can be justified before chasing perfect skill effects.
3
Third Priority - A Narrow Active-Skill Slot
Parchment and Compass each draw from only six active skills. Once your Chalice is solved, these are excellent targets for a one- or two-effect craft when your class has two core skills in the same pool.
4
Last Priority - Passive Perfection
Bell and Mirror have five-skill pools, so natural good rolls are less punishing than the Chalice. Only spend full targeted-craft resources here after the cards that drive your active rotation are already strong.
Don't spend all Crystals and Kina when you reach Transmutation. That cost only makes sense when the card is the correct set, correct slot, and the two fixed skills are long-term targets. During the Item Level climb, a cheap base Unique can be a better investment.

Enhancement - What Is Safe to Upgrade?

You Do Not Need to Hoard Every Training Arcana

No FailureEXP Carries ForwardUnique +5

Arcana Enhancement is EXP-based and does not fail. More importantly, an enhanced card retains the invested EXP when you later use it as material. That makes a good Epic card much safer to improve.

Common +2 900 total EXP. Fine as an early filler, but do not sink premium materials into it.
Rare +3 4,200 total EXP. Cheap bridge while climbing toward Stage 2 and 3.
Epic +4 18,000 total EXP. Worth enhancing if the set and skill rolls are good.
Unique +5 93,000 total EXP. Reserve the expensive final push for cards you expect to keep.

The practical rule is simple: grade first, roll second, Enhancement third. During progression, replacing a Rare with a Unique is usually more important than pushing levels on Rare. Once your Unique cards are settled, Enhancement becomes a clean source of Item Level and Empyrean Lord stat growth.

Recommended Arcana Progression

Fresh 1600 - Fill All Five Slots Run both Transcendence dungeons. Do not obsess over Vigor versus Magic yet if several slots are empty. Five equipped cards are the first priority.
1900 - Replace Common and Weak Rare Cards Stage 2 brings Epic non-Chalice cards and a Rare Chalice. Start shaping a 2-piece and then 4-piece set, but do not sacrifice major grade upgrades for perfect composition.
2200 - Build the Real Endgame Core Stage 3 introduces Unique Bell, Compass, Parchment, and Mirror. This is where Vigor versus Magic and skill rolls start mattering much more.
2500 - Finish the Chalice Stage 4 finally adds Unique Chalice drops. If RNG refuses to cooperate, this is also the point where a targeted Chalice Transmute becomes extremely attractive.
After Five Unique Cards - Chase Skill Quality Stop measuring cards only by Item Level. Improve the exact active and passive skills your build uses, finish the correct 4-piece set, and only then spend heavily on perfect Transmutation.
Best general endgame target: 4-piece Primal Vigor, one carefully chosen off-piece, five Unique cards, useful skill effects on every slot, and a targeted Chalice that supports the core of your rotation.

Final Thoughts

Arcana progression becomes much easier once you separate Item Level progression from endgame optimization. Early on, the best card is usually the one that fills an empty slot or jumps a full grade. At Stage 3 and Stage 4, set bonuses and skill effects finally become important enough to justify being selective.

The current Global meta strongly favors Primal Vigor, with Chalice of Vigor appearing on most high-end characters across every class. Bell of Magic is the most common off-piece for damage-oriented setups, while Templar and MP-heavy support variants have more reason to deviate.

Use Transmutation to solve the hardest RNG rather than to replace ordinary farming. A targeted Unique Chalice with two important skills can be a genuine endgame piece; a random 8-million-Kina craft is simply an expensive way to create another card you may not use.
